Students in grades 2-8 are currently working on their basketball skills.
2-4 grade students are working on harnessing the skills needed to play basketball. We are working on dribbling, passing, lay-ups, and jump shots. We will be working on using these skills individually to accomplish certain goals that we set as a class. Throughout this unit students will use the skills in different activities to ensure that we understand the concepts of how to use these skills.
5-8 grade students are fine tuning their skills in many lead-up activities such as Knockout, Around-the World, H.O.R.S.E. and Keep Away. Students are progressing toward the culminating activity of a half court game.
In grades K-1 students are working on the concept of throwing underhand. Students have learned a 4 step process of how to properly throw an object underhand. We are working toward throwing at targets that are varied in distance away from us and targets that are varied in height in the air (or against the wall).
