Welcome to our classroom website!!

There will be homework sent home each week on Monday.  It will be due on Friday.  

The spelling tests will be held on Fridays.

The options for spelling homework are as follows:

Group A -
ABC Order - Write words in alphabetical order.
Sentences - Write each word in a complete sentence.
Rainbow Words - Write words using a different color for each letter.
Backwards Words - Write words forwards, then backwards.
Story Words - Write a story or poem using all words.  Include an illustration.  Underline the spelling words.
Word Search - Make and solve a word search puzzle using puzzlemaker.com.
Cutting Words - Cut words from magazines or newspapers.  Glue on paper.
Choo Choo Words - Write the spelling list end-to-end as one long chain using different colors for each word.
30 Second Words - Write a TV commercial using all the words from the list.  Underline spelling words.

Free Choice -
Good Clean Words - Write words in shaving cream on counter or another surface that can be cleaned safely.
Pasta Words - Make words with alphabet pasta or use Alphabet cereal.
3D Words - Use modeling clay rolled thinly to make words.
Bouncing Words - Post the words on a wall.  Bounce the ball after saying each letter.
Jumping Words - Post the words on a wall. Jump rope after saying each letter.
Spelling Bee - Pretend you are in a spelling contest.  Spell each word aloud to a parent.
Scrabble Words - Use letter tiles to make words.

Complete at least 3 activities.  Please choose at least one activity from Group A.  

Classroom Updates:

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 is Veterans Day.  There will be no school.  

Also, parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for November 23rd and 24th.  A note will be coming home with your child relating to scheduling your conference. There will be no school on November 25th, 26th, and 27th.  

Please remember to intitial your child's agenda each night.  Also, if you have any questions or notes regarding your child, you may write them in the agenda book.  I check the books each morning.

Please send one snack in with your child daily for afternoon snack.

We have begun the Pizza Hut Book It Program.  The students are to fill out their reading logs and turn them in at the end of the month.  Their goal for the month of November is 300 minutes.  If they reach their goal they will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

B Day - Wellness
C Day - Spanish
D Day - Gym
E Day - Music
F Day - Art

Monday, November 9, 2009 is a C Day.  We rotate through the schedule.
