I wanted to clarify the "vocabulary test" that will be given on Fridays. The "vocabulary test" is not used as a grade percent for report cards. I am using the test as a quick assessment along with their Vocabulary Workshop Books to see if the students are learning vocabulary words from our weekly stories. Grades are recorded as a check, check plus or check minus. We talk about the meaning of the words during class and then the students have to either define the word and/or write a sentence if they know the word’s meaning (Vocabulary Workshop Book. If your child would like to study them I will post them on the website.
For Friday 10/03:clearing, huddled, drenched, flicked.
9/29/08
* Your child's Vocabulary Workshop book will be coming home. Do not be alarmed by its incompleteness or "grade". This book reflects a definite learning curve. You should see a marked improvement in the last story's words.
