Another successful week has passed or gone by.  And coming up should be another good one.  And the students are working hard.  But they want to be careful of Mrs. Rogers Newman’s wet noodle!!  (Inside joke!!)

On Monday we all started to work on our character webs.  Mrs. Elston our principle came into our class room and watched us for about a half hour.  Mrs. Rogers Newman made us work on our webs.  But she spilt us into two groups and one half worked on webs, and the other half worked with Mrs. Rogers Newman and that was really fun because we had to say a few ideas or reasons why school may be closed. When Mrs. Elston left, she looked surprised.  On Tuesday and Wednesday we worked on our webs again.  We also did some reading.  On Thursday we did reading for most of the time it was a very fun week again.  But remember to be careful of that noodle.  HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!

Math:

By: Jessica Foster
Feb. 26, 2009
Hey all you mathematicians out there! It's time for Math news. We started working on polygons and we started with the triangle. First, we talked about what an angle is. Each angle has degrees like 40 degrees. We talked about an acute, obtuse, and right angle. A acute angle has less than 90 degrees. An obtuse angle has more than 90 degrees but less than 180. A right angle has exactly 90 degrees. While talking about angles, we drew a triangle and then we measured the angles with a protractor. Then we ripped the angles off. Then, we drew a line of 180 degrees and we glued the ripped off angles to the line with the ripped size up. Mrs. Lomas told us to add the degrees of the angle up and we got 180(or close to that). We talked about regular polygons and what makes them regular. A regular polygon has equal sides and equal angles. We learned an easy way to find the degrees of one angle of a triangle by adding up the others and subtracting what we got from 180. Then we you will get the answer. We learned that to make an acute triangle you have to have all acute angles. On the other hand, to make an obtuse triangle, you only need one obtuse angle. The same goes for a right triangle. We started talking about quadrilaterals. A quadrilateral has four sides like a square or rectangle. We also said why you can't have an obtuse and right angle in a triangle because a right angle has 90 degrees while an obtuse angle has to at least have 91 degrees and that is more than 180 degrees. Then we worked on the workbook. On the workbook page, we had to fill out a data table that had stuff like how many angles or sides. When we got to how many degrees one angle is, we had to find the sum of all the angles and then divide it by 3. We continued talking about polygons and the definition. I hope we learn more about polygons and angles on Friday. That’s all for now on the weekly Math news. Happy Friday!!

HAVING FUN IN SOCIAL STUDIES!

Happy Birthday to Ms. Dillon!  On Tuesday it was Ms. Dillon’s birthday so in Social Studies we made her cards.

Let’s see…On Monday we typed our Middle Passage Poems.  The Middle Passage is written by Tom Feelings.  It is a book about slavery with no words, only illustrations.  It took him twenty years to finish writing it!  On Tuesday we turned in our weekend homework which was a packet on a Scholastic News magazine.  Like I said before, we also made Ms. Dillon birthday cards.  Wednesday we went over our homework, the Scholastic News packet.  That night for homework we had a worksheet on Louis Braille and Inauguration history.  Louis Braille created a reading language for the blind using raised dots.  An interesting inauguration fact:  George Washington was sworn in New York City because that was the first capital of the United States.  Then on Thursday we took a quiz on our Scholastic News and we read and highlighted the Mini Page on Black History Month.

I had a blast reporting this week and I can’t wait for my next time reporting.  So…have a great weekend!!

“What’s Our Special Today?”
By Isaac Jennings

This week was busy and full of special things. Read on to find out more on this topic!
What an interesting related arts week this has been.  On Monday, we had art.  In that period, we wrote about pictures we painted the class before.  In Music on Tuesday, we made rap songs about anything we chose.  Time flies and now here comes Wednesday, today we had technology.  First, we typed a small piece on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Then we made flyers on how to keep germs from spreading. Then on Thursday, we had library.  We checked out books, typed book review and read for the whole time!
Now, it is Friday and we will have gym.  So now is the question, what special will Monday provide?

Irish Sale Rescheduled

This week we were supposed to go to the St. Patrick’s day sale at the school store. But instead, it got rescheduled to sometime in March.

I’m not 100% sure why the sale wasn’t yesterday, but I think they had a problem with the items being delivered to them. They would have had all of these cool things on sale for their featured items. Like assorted colored pencils for St. Patty’s day designs, and maybe even stickers. The Marty the mustang beenie baby would’ve been there as usual. And the best one was the St. Patty’s day flashlight!

The sale would’ve been real cool! I’d bet the lines to the store would be extra long! Well, what happens is what happens.

I know that we’re all pretty disappointed though. I guess we’ll just have to wait until next time!

Have a very happy weekend!

Fizz Quiz’s in Science
By: Savannah Greene

This week in science we worked on quizzes called Fizz Quizzes.  These quizzes are easy, you don’t need to study and its fun! During these quiz’s students must experiment while using information from the Mixtures and Solutions unit. There was three Fizz Quizzes so far. Two last week and one this week.

Also we started a new unit on Force and Motion.  The first homework we’ve had for the new unit was to find something that rolls like a ball or a can.

We also had to find ten facts about Sir Isaac Newton, the English man who formulated three laws of motion, which describes classical mechanics.

This is what we did this week in fifth grade science. Have a great weekend!!

“I Have a Dream”
By: Jessy Symes

This week was so interesting and filled with so much fun things to do. But, don’t worry we still learned a lot.

On Monday, we started off with a regular day but then in L.A. we read our part in the I Have a Dream speech by Rev.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was an amazing speech.  Then we got to illustrate the part that was assigned to us. Everyone had great ideas filled with great imagination. After that Mrs. Rogers Newman called over the spelling groups to discus something then we went back to our work.

Then on Tuesday it was just like Monday we worked on our posters again. Soon after that we all went and sat near the rug and Mrs. Rogers Newman read us some of The Dream Stealer. Then we worked on are illustrations again and went over some of are Worldly Wise spelling. Sadly enough the day had to come to an end.

Let’s zoom on over to Wednesday. Let’s see well we got back our posters again and worked on them some people made a success and finished them. We hade to go over in groups, like we always do, to see what Mrs. Rogers Newman would like to tell us about our spelling. We also went over our Roman Numerals sheet we got for morning work. And last but not least we had to take a vocabulary test on some of the big words in The Dream speech.

Now, on Thursday we had to quickly finish up our posters and then we had to read our part of the speech to the whole class. It was so much fun. We even had to sand in the front of the class room to do so. To wrap up that day we listened to the actual speech that Martin Luther King Jr. said.

This has been a busy week as you can see so join us next time as we explore the next L.A classes.

Math:
By Amanda Butkus
In math, we worked on our lab. The lab investigations are about races with distance and time. The first investigation is called the 6-yard race. The class would walk, crawl, run, and walk backwards. Four people would do their activity one by one with the choice of walking, jumping, running, or walking backwards to the line that represents 6yards.  One person would time how long it took them to run, jump, walk or walk backwards. We then did questions, a graph and a data table based on our lab.  Then started on a new investigation. We did the three-second race. In this race you as far as you can go in three seconds. We gathered the data and did questions, a graph and a data table.  We had homework this week since we didn’t finish our explore questions which are regular questions. After a couple of days we did a review on what we have learned so far so the teacher can see how we are doing. The day after that we did the DPP and had time to go over it.  That was what we did in math this week.
Have a Great Week!

Lunch and Recess News:

Matthew Andrus-
It’s been another great week in fifth grade at MOT Charter. Unfortunately, on Monday, I was home sick, but I heard about the day. I heard that we had outdoor recess, but we could only play on the blacktop. On Tuesday, forty- two students had to stay in Mrs. Rogersnewman’s class to finish work. On Wednesday, we had indoor recess, but it was still fun. Some of us played games and some of us got on the computer. Lunch on Thursday was really good. We had chicken nuggets, yum! On Thursday, once again, we had indoor recess. For lunch, we had cheese steak.
Hopefully, we have other weeks as great as this one! Have a great weekend!

School News:

By: Mark Dennison

Hello everyone! This is Mark Dennison reporting on all of the news around the school.  First, I am sure everyone was listening in on the radio to see if we would be lucky enough for another snow day. Luck was not on our side, so MOT was business as usual. This week we found out which class will be our Valentine buddies. It will be Mrs. Geammoto's first grade class and we will be handing out Valentine cards to the students. All of the classes also have been talking about the upcoming Valentine parties. Wednesday, it was the school's ice cream day. There were twin pops and the all time favorite water ice. Last, as always there were the trivia questions announced in the morning news along the riddles. Did anyone guess it? I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Science:
Amazing Science
By Connor Davis
This week in science you have to concentrate on two things.  You have to concentrate in class and concentrate on “concentrated solutions.”
This week we are making concentrated solutions and dilute solutions.  A concentrated solution has more of something in it than a dilute solution.  On Monday, we filled up little vials with 50 mL of water and then we put 1 drop of water in 1 vial and 3 drops of water into another vial.  We had to figure out which one was more concentrated.  For Tuesday, we had to get our taste buds ready.  We tasted 2 types of Kool-Aid.  Mrs. D. mixed 1 scoop of Kool-Aid in a pitcher of water and then mixed 3 scoops of Kool-Aid in another pitcher of water with the same amount of water.  Of course, 3 scoops of Kool-Aid would taste better.
On Wednesday, we concentrated water with salt and did a couple of experiments on it.  On Thursday, we reviewed all the stuff we did on Monday through Wednesday.  Science was fun this week.

Have  a  happy  weekend!!!

What's up in math?
: ) Numbers, numbers, and more numbers. Read on to find out what form of numbers we used this week.

Hi Mrs. RogerNewman's class. I'm Jolene See reporting for math in Mrs. Lomas's room.
On Monday, we were using the Elmo and splitting up the rectangles to show fractions.  We looked over a workbook page that we started Friday.
On Tuesday, we were shading in the rectangles and showing equivalent fractions. We also compared fractions to see what was bigger. To find an equivalent fraction, you look at the factors of the two denominators. If you find a match we the factors, you are ready to write your equivalent fraction. Next you see how many times the first denominator went in the new denominator. If for say, it was 4 times, then you would multiply the numerator to see your new fraction.
On Wednesday, It was a snow day: )
Thursday, we were asked to complete page 163 in our text books. I finished before the end of class. It was to show the bigger fraction and it had a few word problems that involved more f the compare the two fractions. If you didn't finish it during math, then it was for homework:(
so math was the same as usual and we had a great week so far. Maybe today will be better!

On Monday, we received a letter to Malia and Sasha (Barack Obama’s kids)  from Barack Obama himself. She also said we are having a test on Friday.

On Tuesday, Mrs. Newman showed us a movie called “Night  John.” It was about what slavery was about.

Luckily on Wednesday, we had a snow day!

On Thursday, we watched “Night John” again.

I think we will finish the movie on Friday but I am not sure.

Everyone good luck on the test and have a great weekend and a happy Friday!!!!       :):):):):)

      By: Alexandra Skibicki
This week for related arts we only had four related arts classes.  We had a snow day on Wednesday that caused school to be closed.
On Monday we had Music class. In Music some students played instruments while others either taught them or watched them practice and play. On Tuesday we had Technology class. For Technology we read about computers in a packet. Also we typed our If I Could Change the World stories. These stories are a writing prompt about if you could change any one thing in the world what would it be.  Wednesday we had no school so we had no Related Arts class. Thursday we had Wellness/Library class. In the beginning of class we read and checked out books. For the rest of class we played word games that help us with our grammar. Friday we will have Gym.
This week even though we only had four related arts classes we still learned a lot. Also we had a lot of fun learning. That’s all we did in related arts this week.

School News:

By Arif Peracha

This week could be described as, better than most. We finally had a snow day. Plus, we earned ourselves a free jersey and any pants day. It was a great week, alright.
Well, let’s go chronologically, shall we. In the morning, during the announcements, we do fortune cookie riddles. They all start out the same way, “When you grow up, you will…” and then lists some of the things someone famous does and you have to guess the person. Mrs. Vail’s class got a lot of them. On Tuesday, I was looking forward to helping out on Ice Cream Wednesday (I’m alternative for homeroom representative, so I’m allowed to) and get myself a well earned water ice. Fate had a different course, though, and it turned out to be a snow day. Okay, I’ll admit it, I was actually was looking forward to the snow day more. On Thursday, during the announcements again, it says that the whole school clustered enough cans of soup into boxes for the “Souper Bowl”. It’s like one of those knock-knock jokes you get out of a joke book, clever, but cheesy. At least the prize wasn’t cheesy; we got a free jersey and any pants days. Also, there’s going to be a school store sale for Valentine’s Day on Tuesday. How’s that for an awesome week.
Don’t forget to bring money for the school store and for Ice Cream Wednesday. I hope you had a great week, wait no, let me rephrase that, I know you had a great week.

Go Martin Luther King, Jr.!
by  Isaac Jennings

This week in language arts we worked on talking and writing about Martin Luther King, Jr.  We also began reading the book, The Dream Stealer.  In addition, we worked on a prompt about one thing we would change if we could change anything in the world.  When we talked about Martin Luther King, we read his speech and were assigned parts to say and illustrate.  We talked about what he did as a kid and what he was like as a person.  We are also reading a book called The Dream Stealer.  It is about a very poor settlement in Russia that is surrounded by a big forest.  People in this settlement are always afraid of a wolf called the blood prince.  They believe that if they go to a witch called Baba Yaga and she is in a good mood, she could give good luck to the settlement.  I really enjoyed learning about what Martin Luther King, Jr. did for our country.  As far as The Dream Stealer, look out in future Friday notes to see how it ends!

:-)Math This Week:-)
By Mia Mueller
(Third Class Math)

Math this week… Okay, let’s begin. On Monday we started text pages where we had to answer A LOT of questions about fractions. We used the Geo-boards if we needed help.

On Tuesday we continued the text pages that we had started on Monday and had page 151 in our work books as homework.

On Wednesday we had a funky schedule. We had LA, first class, second class, lunch and recess, third class, LA, and related arts. Anyway, we reviewed our homework from the other night, which took up the entire class time. Everyone said that that was one of the fastest math classes ever!

Thursday we had a sub and did a work book page full of word problems. There were seven questions and two had an A and B part. Some finished, but nobody got anything as homework.

I hope everybody had a great week, and I hope the next one will be just as good! :-)

Science This Week
By: Ryan McCormick
Hi, I’m Ryan McCormick and I’m going to give you the scoops on science this week. In science we recently started a new unit called mixtures and solutions. We have been doing tests on how salt dissolves in water. We have also weighed mixtures in grams on a scale. Did you know that the only way you can see dissolved salt in water is by shining a small light through the cup? On Thursday we had to put diatimatious earth, salt, and gravel in a cup and find a way to separate it all into three different cups. That’s all I have for now in your science news.

What Was Cool at School This Week?
By: Tadd Liss
There is not much to talk about in school news this week.
I will start with the assembly on Wednesday. On Wednesday we had an assembly, it was about how magic involves math and we had a really cool guy that came in and showed how it was done. One trick he did was the jester had to trick the king three times and he did and he got to marry his daughter and received one million pieces of gold, instead of one million pieces of gold the jester had something better he wanted which was one piece of gold and double it every week until one whole checker board is full. Then when it was full it was a very big number like 369,827,245,620 pieces of gold. The best of all was that on Thursday it was Martin Luther King’s birthday.
Have a great three day weekend!!!!!!!!!

Books, Books, and Essays
                                   By: Savannah Greene
5th grade students start reading a book by Mrs. Christine King Farris and Gregory Maguire. Also students wrote an essay on a book about Mrs. Farris’ brother, Martin Luther King.
This week in Language Arts students began to celebrate a special man! Can you guess who . . . . . . . .if not its Martin Luther King! Students read “ Martins Big Words”, and “My Brother Martin.” This information gave students the ability to write a one-page essay that Mrs. Rogers-Newman will turn in. And, the whole school is doing it. Kindergarten to 8th grade. Also in Mrs. Rogers-Newman’s class we are starting to read a new book called “ Dream Stealers” by Gregory Maguire written after a Russian folk tail. And that is what we did this week!!!
This was a fabulous week, and I look forward to the next.

Math Notes of the Week
By: Mark Dennison

This is MARK Dennison giving you the inside scoop in math.
On Monday in math, we had to do a DPP and Miss Lomas collected it for a check up. Once we finished the DPP we read a story in the spiral notebook. It was about a Science teacher whose school was too cheap to buy equipment for the lab. The teacher and students went to the junk yard and collected cans and other things to use in the lab. On Tuesday, we had a DPP which was turned in as a mean and median check up. Then we went over our homework. Once we finished, we worked on text pg 139 for about 20 minutes or else it was homework. On Wednesday our DPP was turned in and for the rest of the class we played with a geo board. On Thursday, we had a DPP that didn’t get turned in. After, we made a 2 by 4 rectangle, and tried to make impossible shapes.
All and all it was a productive week in math class. I wonder what Miss Lomas has in store for us next week? We will have to wait and see!

Martin’s Big Words
By Alec Eschenwald

In social studies, we are talking about Martin Luther King Jr. and his big “I Have a Dream” speech.

We have to write an essay about him and how he “Turned the World Upside Down.” Earlier in the week we read a book that his older sister wrote. It was about his life and adventures as a kid and an adult.

The next day in social studies we read the illustrator’s note from the story that Martin’s sister wrote. We found out how Martin Luther King Jr. was the illustrator’s idol. The rest of the class we worked on our essays. But most of us are finished writing and typing our essays.

On Wednesday it wasn’t that much different though. We tried to finish up our essays. Mrs. Rogers-Newman handed out scholastic news packets to all of us. This magazine was about 2008. Like a year in review type of magazine. And we also got to work on our Martin’s Big Words essays.

Thursday the people in our class got to finish typing our M.L. essays. Everyone in Mrs. Lomas or Mrs. DiPasquale’s class got to work on their homework. (Scholastic Packets). During class, Mrs. Rogers-Newman found one of my paper footballs under her desk that I was playing with at recess!

We had another excellent week and spent most of social studies working on our essays!

Have a Happy Friday!!!

This week on Monday we had Spanish; on Tuesday we had art; on Wednesday we had music; on Thursday we had technology; and on Friday we had library/wellness.
This week in the beginning of Spanish class, people were able to finish or fix their tests.  For the rest of the class, we started working on projects about our families.  In art class, we drew self-portraits.  In the beginning of music, we listened to twentieth century music that Ms. Dean played.  She played Outkast, Linkin Park, and another band from the United Kingdom and for the rest of the class we wrote music notes on the mini white boards.  In technology, you could either type up a poem or story in your writing binder or you could make something up.  Sadly, we didn’t have everyone’s favorite: gym.
After the winter break, this week wasn’t so bad.  Spanish was pretty interesting this week.  We started a family project. In art class, we started a self- portrait.  We wrote music notes in music.  And in technology, we had a substitute.

It's time for the news! This week on Monday, we listened to Mrs. Jennings read a book to the entire school about Martin Luther King, Jr. We had to write a one page essay about him. The essay was to start like this "Martin's Big Words are alive today when I …." On Tuesday we started working on the rough draft. We don't know what the prize is for the winner but it has to be something because we got a sticker with our name on it that we had to put on our essays. On Thursday Mrs. Rogers-Newman told us that the next day (Friday) was the geography bee. Our two 5th representatives are Piper and Ryan. They are going up against 6, 7, and 8th graders for the bee. Now that everyone's essays are done I hope we learn more about Dr. Martin L. King. Good luck to the representatives at the geography bee.

Language Arts:
By Matt Andrus

Hello this Matt Andrus reporting the news about Language
Arts for the week of December 15th through December 18th.
Another great week gone by as usual at M.O.T Charter
School. It wasn't that boring this week. It was actually pretty
cool. I really enjoyed language arts this week. It was
fun! We mainly had to read and think. This is what Mrs.
Rogers-Newman would call metacognition. Monday we got a
story  elements packet on a Wrinkle in Time. Madoline
Lengle wrote A Wrinkle in Time. Also we wrote poetry after
reading about Mattie Stepanek . Mattie Stepanek is a
famous poet. He died of a disability in 2004. He was good
friends with Oprah Winfrey. On Tuesday, we did the same
thing but we got to finish reading our Wangdoodle stories
to a group. Wednesday we got a chance to work on our story
elements packet so we wouldn't have homework. That was
great! On Thursday we read our Christmas stories to our
group and made pop-up cards. I know I am counting down the
days until our winter break. I bet the rest of the class
is too. Have a great weekend and enjoy the winter break. I
will see you all in 2009!

Math Lab
By: Alexandra Skibicki
This week the news in math is a new math lab called Spreading Out but of course the biggest math news is that our math teacher, Mrs. Lomas will be having a baby in May.  Congratulations to Mrs. Lomas.
Back to the subject of math, I would like to tell you about our Spreading out math lab. In this lab, we took a paper towel and put 1, 2, and 4 drops of water on it.  After that we took an overhead sheet and traced the spots.  Then we measured them in centimeter squared.  It was an interesting activity. This week we had homework on Monday and Wednesday.  On Monday our homework was word problems on textbook page 130, #s 7-22 and on Wednesday it was textbook pages 129 and 130, #’s 1-6. Overall we had a lot of work in math this week but thankfully not much homework.
Congratulations again to Mrs. Lomas and Happy Holidays to all!!!

Did you know that there were 9 out of 13 men who signed the constitution? Yeah well what were those men called? Answer at the bottom. Ok hello my name is Keith Stagg on your S.S. Monday I was not here so I don’t know what we did. But I was here on Tuesday. On Tuesday we had to turn in our Scholastic new packets. Wednesday we read the whole the Great debate and we went over the String of Events. On Thursday we had to take he Quiz Whiz and if you did not get finished or got 2, 7, and10 you had to do it at recess. That all the time I have.
Have a great Friday!!!!!!

Science:
What did we do in science this week?
By: Jessy Symes
Wow, look at the greatest places on earth. On Monday we watched a movie on the Greatest Places on Earth. I think it was a cool movie. Did you know that the continents used to all be close together but then they split away. That big continent was called. Now lets move on to Tuesday. On Tuesday Mrs. D explained this magazine that we would get to later that day. Then after that we watched The Magic School Bus Hops Home. Well, it turned out that we didn’t get to the magazine but we will get to do that on Wednesday. On Wednesday basically all we did was to read the magazine and do the cross word puzzle. Let’s see what we did on Thursday. If we didn’t finish the packet we had to finish reading it and do the cross word puzzle on what we read. This turned out to be a great week. Join us next time to see what other interesting things we will do.

School News:
We Had A Great Week
By Jolene See
We had a great week. Keep reading to get more information.
Hi, I'm Jolene and I'm reporting school news.
On Wednesday, it was ice cream Wednesday. Mia was one of the people working there. The ice cream is only one dollar, and some of the ice cream is 50 cents.
Thursday, during lunch, the line for lunch was extremely long. It went almost all the way back out the hallways. The lunch everyone was craving for, was hot sliced ham.
Not one of my favorites...
Also, on Thursday, some of L.A. was spent making pop-out cards. I made a frog and it said 'Have a Very Merry Christmas' on it.
But guess what?
The Charter School is thinking about have a new gym, separate from the cafeteria.
But they need to earn 1,000,000 dollars in order to build it! So, if we do get the new gym, the gym we have now will be just a cafeteria.
They'll be a bigger library, and 4 new rooms! I can't wait until they earn one million dollars! To get more info on it, in the main hallway they made a poster all about it.
: D This was great, and I had fun. Have a happy Friday, and a great break, too.

Break Time
By Amanda Butkus

What did we have for lunch? What did we do at recess? The games we do are creative and fun. The foods that the lunch ladies cooked are cheesesteak, M.O. T muffin, grilled chicken, ham, and pizza. The food sounds so good. We had some indoor and outdoor recess. When we had indoor recess kids played football (on the ground), draw, homework, and play on the computer, and more interesting games. For outdoor we play tag, football, walk, soccer, and gymnastics. Kids in there own way know how to entertain themselves.

The Right Average
By Arif Peracha
A week filled with education has gone by again. This week, students learned which average to use, mean or median?
As usual, we start the math lesson off with D.P.P to get our minds warmed up for math. On Friday, we had to decipher a code that said that Mrs. Lomas was having a baby.  In the beginning of the week, we worked on our new, three-step, method of doing word problems. Then we went back to averages by first doing a hands-on activity. We used connecting cubes to find out the mean of a group of data. First, we connected the cubes to how many books people read. Then we distributed the total into six equal towers, well at least we were supposed to. We actually had two cubes left over. For the next few days, we worked in our textbooks, finding means and medians of data. The people who finished early, Like Logan Benedict, Matthew Symes, and I, worked on an extra lesson.
To end all this, Iʼll give you a couple tips for math class. One is to always be prepared for a pop-quiz, and the other is to always use our new method with word problems, if you donʼt, you will have to do the problem over again. Have a good week.

SCIENCE FRIDAY NOTES
BY TADD LISS

What a Science class this week.  We studied classification and biodiversity of animals and plants.  At the end of the week we have a project due on whatever animal we choose.  I chose to write my project on the Impala.

On Monday in Science we had to read pages 113 – 117 and discuss the answers aloud with our reading partners but when we got to pages 116 – 117 we had to write the answers in our journal.  On Tuesday we had to read pages 118 – 119 and record the answers in our journal.  On Wednesday we had to read pages 124 – 129 and record the subgroups in our journal.  On Thursday we had to read pages 130 – 131 and write the groups and subgroups in our journals and compare with pictures.  On Friday I think we will be finished.

    Have a great weekend!!

**_What was going on this week in Related Arts?_*

By Mia Mueller

Hi, this is Mia and I’m reporting to you this week all about related
arts! So, what happened in the past 4 days?…

On Monday we had a Spanish practice quiz and we worked on our ‘Me
Gusta…’ essays. Remember, we have an exam next Tuesday! ¡Buena suerte!
(Good luck!)

Tuesday was a little different than normal days. Instead of F day Art,
we had a rehearsal for that evening’s music concert. Mrs. Dean said we
sounded amazing! She had these cool signs that said ‘Great Job’ and
‘Louder’ in huge letters!

On Wednesday, our schedule was still messed up. We hardly had any
Language Arts because at 1:20, we went to the Art room to make up for
yesterday’s lesson. Then at 2:25, we went to music. We did art stuff
there as well. Mrs. Dean gave us Crayola molding Clay and we made spoon
holders. People made Christmas trees, flowers, snowmen, and I heard many
are going to give them to their moms for Christmas!

Then on Thursday we had our usual B day Technology class. Sadly, Mrs.
Hassig was not there, but we managed! ;-) People continued on their
typing lessons and many finished including myself. Those who did finish
got to go online.

All in all, I had a fantastic week and I hope you did too! Have a
fabulous weekend!

School News:

This week, Mrs. Rogers-Newman said that in social studies, we were having a geography bee. The first place winner got a $25,000 college scholarship and $500 in cash. The school store is having a Christmas sale with candles, stuffed animal penguins and much more new items. The MOT basketball on Tuesday did awesome. The boys and girls played Caravel Academy. The girls unfortunately lost, 15-7. The boy’s game was very tense. They won in overtime, 25-24. On Thursday, December 11, 2008, the basketball team played again against St. Anne’s. The boys crushed them and won, 49-21. The girls game was neck and neck but the girls lost, 15-13. I just want to say great job to both teams. Remember, have a magnificent weekend and happy Friday.

What did we do in language arts this week?
By: Sabrina La Manna

What happened in language arts this week? On Monday Mia's mom came in and was talking to the class about what Christmas is like in Germany. Then on Tuesday the class worked on this thing called self evaluation of the first trimester. It was cool but it took me a while to think what to write it took some other students a while to think what to write too I wasn't the only one. We also read a book called "A Wrinkle in Time."  Then Wednesday we read the book again after we read the book Mrs. Rogers-Newman gave everyone in the class a partner so we could proof-read are stories. Then lastly on Thursday we read "A Wrinkle in Time." We just need to read one more chapter on Friday and then were done the book. Mrs. Rogers-Newman made us stop read so we could do other work. We then did a work sheet and while we were working on the work sheet Mrs. Rogers-Newman would call one student at a time and would give us a test back. She talked to us about are test when we walked up to her when she called are names to go up to her. That my report about language arts this week. Have a great weekend.

Math:
1,000, 100, 10 and 1

By: Mary Qin Hassig

Base ten blocks are very useful when doing divison.

This week we got new seats on Monday. Also on Monday we were
introduced to the base ten blocks. The blocks are used to help us with
division. You had to try to divide 125 pieces between the people at your
table( three, four of five people) for the first we used them. On
Tuesday we had to do problems while using the base ten free hand(
drawing them). We learned how to do division without the base ten
blocks. We learned the traditional method and the forgiving method. Me
personally I like the traditional method. The other method is very
confusing with all of the numbers. We used multipication to check our work.

I enjoyed reporting this week and I hope you enjoy your weekend as
much as I did reporting!

It's time for the weekly report on Social Studies! On Monday we had to color maps on the New England states. We had to color at least Rhode Island and Connecticut. On Tuesday, Mrs. Rogers Newman told us about a field trip in April. It would be to Baltimore, and we would go on a boat. We had a little time to color the maps. On Wednesday, people had to finish New England facts. We had to have at least three interesting facts about each state. Some people put boring facts like Rhode Island is the smallest state in America. We had to finish the New England maps or it would be homework. Also, whoever brought in their field trip form early got treats. On Thursday, we got back our New England facts. We had to make sure we had all capitals, periods, and more. Mrs. Rogers Newman gave us a study guide for a map test. It will be on Dec. 11. We had to know where Plymouth was and where Cape Cod was. We also had to find rivers and lakes. We had to know the abbreviations of the states, like Vermont's is VT. Then we had to show Mrs. Rogers Newman our maps. Some people had to stay in for recess either because they colored one state blue, or because they didn't finish. She talked about mindlessly coloring, and how you should look in the atlas to see if it was land or lake. Some people got confused and colored Canada different colors. I hope we learn more about the New England States. Happy Friday!

Science:

Which Thing Goes in What Group?

By Isaac Jennings

This week in science we have been working a lot on classification.  A classification is a group based on similar attributes.  An example of a physical attribute is the color of something.

“Wow, I didn’t know that there are so ways to group things,” I thought as we cut out boxes for our unit on classification.  The boxes had names of animals and plants on them.  After we cut out the boxes, we put them into categories, such as animals with hooves, land dwelling animals, and sea dwelling animals.  After everyone finished grouping the animals and plants, the class shared which things go in what group.  Then, when we finished, Mrs. DiPasquale was about to say that we were going to play a game, but the bell rang first so we didn’t play at all.  The next day (Tuesday) we played the classification game that Mrs. DiPasquale said we would play on Monday.  On Wednesday, we worked on classification some more and watched a movie on it.  On Thursday, we mostly took notes about classification in our journals.

So far, it has been a very busy week.  But from my point of view, THE BUSIER THE BETTER!

Let’s Sneak a Peak on L.A.
By: Mark Dennison

This is Mark Dennison here to tell you about L.A. this week in Mrs. Rogers-Newman’s class. At the beginning of the week, we had to finish the Homesick test. It was tough, but it is over! On Tuesday, we were given an assignment to write a story. It has to be a realistic fiction about celebrating winter holidays. You better get started now! On Wednesday, we read our Whangdoodle stories. Ryan and Amanda told great stories. It has been fun to listen to them. Again, we got to work on our winter holiday story. On Thursday, we watched The Wizard of Oz and had to write story elements on it. It is awesome to be able to watch a movie at school and that movie is a great one to see. It was a great week. We started with a test and ended with a movie. What more could you ask for? Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Math:
Mathematics Matters
By Connor Davis

Get your pencils ready for writing ratios, graphs, and a whole lot of fractions.  This week with Mrs. Lomas in Math, you’re going to have a terrific time.

Do you know what a ratio is?  When I tell you what it means, you will know that you use them a lot.  A ratio is a fraction that is equivalent to another fraction.  Most of the ratio’s or fractions you are going to make up are going to be found on a graph.  We had a quiz/assignment on Tuesday.  But for most of the week you are going to be working in silence.  I still think that’s fun unless you sit across from a friend you want to talk to.

Did you have fun this week?  Well, if you did, good because you’re going to have to do fractions and ratios for the rest of your life because nothing is going to be exact.

PS:  Have a good weekend and Thanksgiving Holiday!

Here’s Social Studies Coming at You
                                       By: Jessy Symes

Hello, this is Jessy Symes and I am going to inform you of what has happened in social studies for the past few days.
On Monday we watched a movie on the Presidents and that was basically all we did that day. On Tuesday we had to rap up the movie we watched on Monday. That must have been a pretty long movie if it took up two days of social studies. Now lets move on to Wednesday.  We went over the Scholastics packet that we got last week on Friday. After that we got a worksheet no the Voter turnout and on the American Indians. Then we got another worksheet and we had to try and find the missing numbers on the pyramid. Let’s move onto Thursday. On Thursday we got some papers to put in are social studies to save. Then after that we took a quiz wiz on the Scholastics packet. After that we finished we got to work with a partner on the New England region.
That was pretty much all we did that. This is Jessy Symes signing off.

Marsh birds! We are learning about the birds in the marsh. They are only marsh birds like the laughing gull. Everybody worked with the person next to him or her. Mrs. D. borrowed a set called build a bird from the field trip. It had body parts (Head, body, and legs) of a bird carved with wood. Mrs. D. handed out cards, which tells information about the bird and what it is. The body parts have colors or letters. The cards tell you which ones you pick. So after everybody builds there birds we go up and read the card by the letter on the card (1-12) and hear the noise it makes. It took about a class and a little more time from the next day. So when we finish we can do something else. After we where done we watched a movie about the Chesapeake Bay. Everybody sang the songs and laughed at the movie because it was so funny. Mrs. D. gave us a packet with the words to the song.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Related Arts is cool.
In related arts we are doing lots of new and different things. We are playing games, typing, reviewing stories, and drawing pictures.
Related arts is very cool because we get to do something different everyday. In gym we are playing team band ball and it is a really fun game. In wellness we are reviewing stories and how important the plot, setting and title is because they are the most important things you need to know about the story. In art we are learing how to swave with paper. In the computer lab we are learning how to type and to see how fast you can type and seeing how many errrors that we make.Related arts i9s alot of fun and it breaks up the day a little bit. One thing to remember about related arts is that you should always remember to wear your sneakers on gym days and old shirts on art days.

Mot School News
By Matt Andrus

Hello, this is Matt Andrus reporting the Mot School news for the week of November 17- November 21.

Another great week has gone by in fifth grade at Mot Charter. Don’t you remember all the fun times you had in fifth grade?

This week was geography awareness week. To celebrate this event, students in the school were allowed to wear t-shirts from places they have been. The school took a tally of how many people in each class participated. Whoever has the most amounts of students that wore a shirt win a special prize. I sure hope that our class wins a special prize.
On Wednesday we had Ice Cream Wednesday!! Ice cream is a good treat for us growing fifth graders! On Wednesday there was also the school store. The school store sells necessary supplies, so we can be successful students.

To celebrate Thanksgiving, Thursday November 20, 2008, our school provided us a delicious Thanksgiving meal. There was, turkey with gravy, stuffing, corn, rolls, mashed potatoes, and for dessert there was rice pudding. Yummy!!

Have a great break and for all you parents…. Don’t be late for your parent teacher conferences.

Lunch and Recess News:
By Alec Eschenwald
Lunch this week is very tasty! We’ve got cheese steaks, grilled chicken, croissants, (my favorite)! and much more!!!

On Monday we had cheese steaks. But I decided to get the egg salad sandwhich. (I’m not a real big fan of it though!) I played football and my friend Vincent DelPercio threw a touchdown pass to me. Also Matt Andrus, on the other team, fired it to Isaac Jennings. But it fell incomplete as I batted it down. Matt pitched it to Brendan Mangan a few times and he gained bunches of yards. Then we had to go in for Language Arts. I’ll let Mark Dennison tell you about that.

There wasn’t much exciting stuff on recess. Matt, Mark, Keith, and I played paper football. Mrs. Rogers-Newman let Sabrina help with the computers for our passwords. Although recess wasn’t really exciting, cause of the weather, lunch was great! We got croissants! But the bad news was that I forgot to sign up so I had to get pb and j. Well I know other people enjoyed them!

On Wednesday it wasn’t much different. Well lunch was. We had grilled chicken sandwhich. But because of how cold it was, we had to have indoor recess. I played paper football and not much else.

But Thursday was like a feast at lunch! Or Thanksgiving. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, and much more! For recess we finally went outside! A bunch of people played soccer. I obviously played football. My highlights were catching a touchdown pass, I got an interception, and I caught a tipped pass. Vince threw great touchdown passes in fact.
Thursday was very chilly outside. And obviously Friday we are having pizza, and brownies for my birthday!!! So remember, when you go outside for recess, bundle up! It’s very cold out!

HAVE AN AWESOME WEEKEND!!!

Trimming L.A.
By Arif Peracha
Another successful week in L.A has gone by. The only unusual thing was that on Wednesday and Thursday, we shortened L.A (no problem there).
The field trip to the tidal salt marsh has caused our class to have a bit of extra recess on Wednesday. There were only three boys and three girls in the class once the Worldly Wise group went away. Us boys (Connor, Johnny, and I) played paper football on a smooth table in the back of the room. At the end, we read our whangdoodle stories. I shared my 23-page story, but at page 18, both my hands fell asleep and some people were really tired of listening to me, so Mrs. Rogers-Newman let me stop.
On Thursday, I went on the field trip and I wasn’t there for most of L.A. Isaac Jennings commented, “We watched Schoolhouse Rock, all of it.”
I thought it was strange how the people who went to the field trip were in the classroom, and the people who were supposed to be there were out. I was supposed to finish sharing my whangdoodle story, but Mrs. Rogers-Newman had other things, like a 30 second typing quiz for example, to do. We ended up just reading our books until related arts.
Here are some things to remember: You mustn’t misbehave, for Mrs. Rogers-Newman might be testing us for how we behave after two chaotic days. If you are in Words Their Way, don’t forget to study for your spelling test Monday. Also, brace yourselves; I might have to finish sharing my whangdoodle story today. Other than that, have a great Friday!

ath: Ratios

By: Nick Salati

This week in math as usal we do DPP { Daily Practise Promblem } . We also worked on ratios. We had a field trip so some of us missed a day. Ratios are how graphs work and like shopping to figure out the final price. They are a little like graphs. Welll you use them alot to work with graphs in every day life if you know it or not . so in conclusion math was fun and have a good weekend.

The Election
By: Alexandra Skibicki

This week U.S   citizens voted for a new President.  Students also got to vote but they voted in school only. In our school Barack Obama won and also he won the election out of school.
When we voted in school this week, we voted in Mrs. Jefferson’s room. To vote, we took a piece of paper and put a check next to whom we wanted to win. Also this week we watched two videos in social studies. One video gave us a tour of Washington, D.C . The other was School House Rock. On Wednesday while some students were on a field trip we colored maps to show which candidate won which states.  Another fact is that we have a test on Friday.
In conclusion, even though some people like and some dislike our new president, this election will go down in history. Lastly we had a fun week in social studies voting and watching movies.

Hello folks this is Keith on the science. Well I’m ah get right to it. On Monday we talked about how tributaries are little streams that are connected to a bay. Then we saw a movie on what the fieldtrip. But the groups were different this time because Mrs. D’s class and half of Mrs. Newman’s went on Wednesday. I did not go on Wednesday. I went on Thursday with Mrs. Lomas‘s class. Wednesday we had a sub. Mrs. D was the trip. All we did was read adventure with Riley books and got pass ports. Thursday I went to the trip to the salt marsh in Smyrna. It was fun! I learned a lot. We fished for fish. We learned about grass shrimp. We caught dragon fly nephews. That all the time I have so  see you next time.

We had a great week of specials... read more to find out about each!!

Lets start on Gym, that was on Monday. For gym, we played Knock-The-pins.  My personal favorite. The game is played with two teams, a couplle pins, and about 20 colored softballs. The point of the game is to knock down the other team's pins. So that was fun. For all I know, is that my team won twice, and the other team won once. : D
And next, it was Tuesday and we had Spanish. Spanish was cool, becasue we watched a video about the Day of the Dead. The Day of The Dead is a holiday where dead family members are remembered, or celebrated.
And now, it's wedsnday and we had Art. It was lots of fun because we finished up weving, and we glued all of the pictures we drew into a special book we made with bindings.
Thursday, we had music. We basically did the Do Re mi symbols, practiced songs ( they were Deck the Halls, and Choo Choo Ch' Boggie) , We split into two groups, one with boys, the other with girls. We did this for Deck the halls.  Since the girl's had a different part, Mrs. Dean said it would be easier if we split up.  I persoally don't like the girl's part because the Fa La La's.... are different. But i am so used to the old version that the boy's sing, i just don't like it. It can get pretty confusing.
Well those were the specials we had this week. My favorite was gym. But the others were great. Let's hope for more great specials next week! : - )

“Our Nation’s New President”
by Isabella Savino

Wow!  What an incredible week.  Barack Obama made history, by becoming the first African American to be elected President of the United States.  As a country, we waited a long time for this to happen.  This exciting election went down to the wire.  Both candidates were very good people, for the job. It was a close race between Republican Nominee John McCain and Democratic Nominee Barack Obama.  But in the end, most of the battleground states went to Barack Obama.  Thousands of people gathered at Bryant Park, in Chicago Illinois, to hear his victory speech.  Many young people and first time voters carried him to victory. This election was full of many firsts.  The first female to run for Vice President of the United States was Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska.  In the Democratic primary, Senator Hillary Clinton was the first female to seek the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.  And it was the first time that a Delawarean, Senator Joe Biden ran for, and won the election, for Vice President of the United States.  This campaign showed us that we can be anything that we want to be!

Lunch and Recess News:
By: Jonathan Ramos

Starting with lunch, this week we had meatball sub on Monday, French toast sticks on Tuesday, chicken patty on Wednesday, everybody's favorite on Thursday, Shrimp Poppers. On Friday we had chesse pizza quesdilla. In recess this week, it was mostly indoor. Some people were just standing around, playing on the computer or playing paper football. That is mostly what happened this week in recess and lunch.

Take care, and have a great weekend.

What happened this week in Mrs. Rogers Newman's
Language Arts Class?
Language Arts
By Mia Mueller
Hello everybody! This is Mia Mueller reporting to you about Language Arts in Mrs. Rogers Newman's class!
Firstly, let's start with Monday. On Monday, two students read aloud some wonderful Whangdoodle stories! I'm sure everyone enjoyed them. I certainly did! We also worked on our Homesick vocabulary and how to look for things in a dictionary. Then we worked on our cursive 'R'. Everyone's getting really at writing in cursive!
On Tuesday we started our spelling and vocabulary packet for the first time! I think it's very interesting to figure out what words mean and where they came from! We paired up and did some activities in the packet together. While we were doing that, Mrs. Rogers Newman announced that from now on in Language Arts, we would have to write in cursive! Since we have been doing so many cursive worksheets, she says that we know enough to start writing in cursive all the time!
On Wednesday, some of us finished our spelling packets in school while others had to take it home as homework. Then a student read aloud another fabulous Whangdoodle story! I enjoyed it a lot! ;-)
Thursday, we got all our October reading logs together and added up our number of pages for the entire month. (Well, each separate student added up their own number of pages.) I heard that a lot of people read around 300 pages! That's really great! We also went over our spelling packets and learned about suffixes, prefixes, and base words! I never knew a word could have so many sections!
As you can see, we had a very busy week, although I'm sure everyone had fun! That concludes my report. Have a happy Halloween and a great weekend! :-)

Name: Isaac Jennings
Class/Topic Covered: Math
Due Date: October 31, 2008

Headline(Title of the story): We've been working on fractions two-thirds of the time.

Byline (Author): Isaac Jennings

Lead (Introduces the story and gives the most important news):  In math we have been working on fractions most of the week.  We also used fractohoppers, pattern blocks and number lines and some of the time we worked with partners.

Body (answers questions and adds more details):  While all this confusion of fractohoppers, number lines, and pattern blocks, we got a lot of work done.  Most of the time we were working in our textbooks or our work book.  If we wern't doing any of these things then we were reading, quizzing ourselfs with flash cards or listening to Mrs. Lomas give us words of wisdom (words of wisdom are giving us directions or just giving us information we needed to know about fractions).  In our textbooks we did a lot of filling in the blanks with fractions and writing fraction number sentences with pattern blocks and a partner.  Our partners were decided by Mrs. Lomas.  She picked them by telling us to work with the person in front of us.  If you are on the end you would work with the people in front of you but at the same time on your left and right.

Ending (Closing sentences wich give the reader something to remember):  Even though we had a fraction-like week, it was my favorite week in the world and Friday Notes just made it better.

STATES, STATES, AND MORE STATES
By: Haley Peck
It looks like Mrs. Newman loves states so much we talked about them all week long! But it was not a problem with me. On Monday we got our packets back and talked about them with our group. On Tuseday we listed the top 11 states with the most votes. On Wednesday we went over our packet and looked in our magezine. On Thursday I was absent but I know we had a quiz. So just remeber the states and the 3 branches of gov. So have a great weekend and a scary HOLLOWEN!!  : )

Science:
Ahhh science
                             By:Becca Kokoszka
This week we have to learn some scientific words. Next week the 5Th graders are going to split in to two groups from each class. But every body else that's not going on the field trip can still switch classes. But there would only be about half the class. We are going on a field trip Wednesday,Thursday next week.
OK lets get back to those words I was talking about. The words are brackish, watershed, estuary, tributaries. On Tuesday we stared working on our posters and we almost got to share too. By then it reached to the end of the class. we had a 5 point quiz on Wednesday. Well when we all got done our quiz we got to share our posters.
The groups that may pollute the bay besides every living thing will pollute the bay. But besides that the ones that may mostly pollute the bay is Dairy Farmers, Land Developers, Ordinary Citizens, Boaters. While the Dairy Farmers were doing their interview  Savannah Greene said to Mrs.DiPasqule that the dairy farmers may pollute the bay by letting the cows "go"in the bay. On Thursday we watched a movie during science. Well I wonder what  Mrs.DiPasqule has in store for us next week!!!!!

Did you vote in Social Studies this week?  I did I think it was cool we go to vote.  One day this week every one in 5th grade got to vote in Social Studies.  Some people voted all Republicans and some voted all Democrats.  Also some people voted like some Republicans and some Democrats.  This Friday October 31, 2008 Tyler Andrews gets to go to Dover and say who had the most votes from when we voted in school.  Mrs. Rogers-Newman picked Tyler Andrews because he likes politics so she wanted him to go say who had the most votes.  I think it’s cool that he gets to go do that.  That is my report for school news hoped you liked it.  Have a great weekend.

What's Up This Week
Written By: Mary Qin Hassig
Have you ever heard the expression "All the time in the world?" If you have or have not, now you have. During recess this week one day we actually did have it! Read on to find out more.
During the day of the "Phantom Tollbooth" all of they teachers were tired so they let us have a 1 hour recess (a half an hour longer than usually.). Then finally we had to go in. This week we also had to define 10 of20 vocabulary words for homework. To define them we had to use what the sentence the word was in from the book "Homesick" and the part of speech. Then you add the definition from a dictionary. Mrs. Rogers-Newman taught us how to use guide words on a page. Mrs. Rogers- Newman had a C.D. of Madeline L'Engle (a favorite author of Mrs. Rogers Newman who passed away last year) reading, "A Wrinkle in Time." We got these booklets called Reading Response Journals this week too. We write our thoughts down and we may NOT write a summary.
This week was a busy one and I hope your Weekend is as much fun and as busy as ours. Have a GREAT weekend!

Math:
•     The math way!
By: Sammi Jamison
•        People were working with shapes and fractions in math this past week.
•        The shapes we are working with are red trapezoid, yellow hexagons, green triangles, brown trapezoids,  and purple triangles. And also when I hear the word “shapes”, I think of fractions. And we are also working with fractions and shape.  Miss. Lomas is our awesome math teacher.  She even made up each of us a very nice packet for us to work on to work on as partners.
•        So as you can see, we have had a wonderful week in math. And another great one is coming toward us.
•       Have a great weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Countdown to Election Day

Only a few more days until election day! Which means we’re taking a quiz on the three branches of government. The three branches of government are the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The Legislative branch is made up of two parts, the House of Representative and the Senate. Together they are called the congress. For the Executive branch the president is in charge. But if he wants to do something, he has to have the congress’ approval though. And last but not least, the Judicial branch. The Judicial branch is made up of the court system. The Supreme Court is the highest. All of the judges meet at the United States’ Capitol.

Barack Obama (Democrat) has most of the electoral votes so far. But there is a lot of battle ground states though. Nine to be exact. We watched a video about President Nixon and other stuff about the branches of government, that I told you earlier. So Barack Obama and John McCain are the Democrat and Republican candidates, and there is only a few more days until elections! But remember, there are third party candidates too! So don’t leave them out!!!

It's time for our daily science news! This week in science the first thing we did was get a flip box with a book that had questions and answer in them. When you flip it over, open it and you will see if you got it right.  If you did, there is a design at the bottom of the page. If you have that design, you got the questions right. We also did some talking about the Chesapeake Bay and what people do that live there. We got a paper and mine had ordinary citizens in the watershed area. It talked about what citizens do that harm the bay or what they can do to help. After that we got in groups of people that had the same paper. We discussed about things that we can do to stop the pollution. We also talked about advantages and disadvantages of things that can help the bay. One thing we said was to not use too much electricity. The disadvantage was that we would be tempted to turn on the switch. When we talked about the Chesapeake Bay, we talked about things citizens do in the watershed area like waste electricity, litter, throw trash in the bay, and more. Then we talked about the things we could do to help the Bay like save electricity, don’t keep water running, use very little or no fertilizer on plants, stop using weed killers and items that kill insects. We weren’t here the following day due to a field trip about the Phantom Tollbooth. I hope we continue to learn more about the Chesapeake Bay. Have a good weekend. That’s all for now!

Date: October20, 2008

This week in Related Arts we took over the 4th grades schedule because they had DSTP testing and we are a nice grade for a swap. The related arts schedule was Monday we had Library and Wellness, Tuesday we had Gym, Wednesday we had Technology, and Thursday we had a field trip.
On Monday, Library/Wellness was interesting. In Wellness we learned about huffing and how it affects your body such as losing brain cells and getting sick. We also had to read a short story about huffing and then answer questions about the consequences and choices that we have about huffing.
Tuesday we had Gym and played a game of Frisby. We played it like football. Our team was Alec, Mary, Mia, Alexandra, and I. I had two touchdown passes to my good friend Alec Eshenwald and he had one pass to me. The entire team played well. Our record was two wins and one loss. It was a lot of fun.
Wednesday we headed to Technology class. We went on a typing program called Peter’s Online Typing Course. You type and then at the end it tells you how many errors there were and the time it took you. Everyone is getting better and better at typing each week.
We did not have our related arts on Thursday. Instead we all went on a field trip to an opera house to see Phantom Toll Booth.
It was a great week in Related Arts. We had fun and learned a lot. I can’t wait to see what the teachers have in store for us next week.

By: Savannah Greene

Ahh lunch and recess the best part of the day.
The part when students can fill there empty stomachs and talk to friends. “ Recess and lunch is fun!” says Arif Peracha, a 5th grade student of Mrs. Rogers-Newman’s class. During this wonderful week students had ham and cheese sub on Monday, egg M.O.T muffin on Tuesday, grilled chicken sandwich on Wednesday, ultimate nachos on Thursday and deep-dish pizza on Friday.
For recess I played on the playground but some kids played on the swings, or in the field, playing games like football or soccer or just talking with friends, but otherwise everybody had fun! Remember for next week to always eat a good lunch and have fun at recess, because that’s our only time to see friends and play.

Have a Happy Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Very Busy Week
By Alexandra Skibicki
In Mrs. Rogers-Newman’s homeroom this week we worked on thinking signs papers about Homesick, the book we are reading in class.  For this we didn’t have to answer the questions but write what type of thinking it was.
Also this week our Whangdoodle stories were due.  As you may remember, Whangdoodles are imaginary creatures of undefined shape and form.  We each wrote a story about our own Whangdoodle. Every single day this week we worked on cursive.  Mrs. Rogers-Newman wants us all writing completely in cursive soon.  Also many people have passed all five of their keyboarding tests that we have in class.  It’s still lucky for the students who didn’t because they get more candy when they pass.  Another big thing this week was we finished our Homesick definitions paper that we did for class and for homework.
In conclusion we had lots of work and a very busy week in Language Arts.

Math:
Factions and Pattern Blocks
                           By: Jessy Symes

We started a new unit on Wednesday. Now we started dealing with fractions. I think that this is going to be a fun unit. We got a packet and some pattern blocks to help us learn the fractions. We have started doing some simple fractions. We get to play with the pattern blocks to figure out fractions. Pattern blocks are shapes like triangles, trapezoids, rhombuses, and hexagons. It was fun because we got to play with them for a while. Then we did some work in the packet.
Now let’s move on to Thursday. We had a substitute, it was Mrs. Foster. We got to work in groups and did some problems in our text book.
In conclusion this has been a great experience and I can’t wait to report again. Signing off, Jessica Symes.

Extra extra, read all about it!

Keith Stagg is on your social studies this morning.  Good morning folks, this is Keith Stagg on social studies this morning.  On Monday, we had a substitute named Mrs. Prevost.  She was nice and we had a blast doing our packets.  On Tuesday, Mrs. Rogers-Newman was back.  We talked about what was done.  Mrs. Prevost gave us a great report.  On Wednesday, we talked about the scholastic news packet and we talked about the debate of the week:  whether we should band homework or limit it.  On Thursday, we worked on our democracy packet.  We talked about the elections.  Did you know that there is a 3rd party candidate?  The most important thing I learned this week was that the 3rd party candidate also runs for the White House.

There is a whole bunch to learn this week.  We are doing a pollutions report and polluting our ecocolumn.
This week is an exciting week in science.  We are learning about the creation of the Earth and what we have done to it.  On Monday and Tuesday, we saw the same IMAX movie.  This week we are looking at the 3 pollutants.  On Tuesday, we had a substitute teacher.  We have also polluted our own ecocolumns and are watching what they do.
On Wednesday, Mrs. DiPasquale lost her voice and we played a debate game:  Pros and Cons for putting salt on the roads.  She also lost her voice on Thursday.

What happened in specials this week?

Hey, it’s Matt Andrus here, telling you about another great week at Mot Charter.

On Monday, unfortunately, I was home sick and missed music class.  On Tuesday October 14, we had technology. In technology we had to take a typing skills test. We had to type as fast as we could, while trying not to make errors. I made six. It was hard, but we had fun. On Wednesday October 15, we had wellness/ library where we learned about the dangers and side affects of drugs and alcohol. I hope my friends and family members never decide to choose drugs!! October 16, we had gym. Fun! We played ultimate frisby. My team won one game, but lost one game.

What a fun week of specials! They were all fun, but gym was my favorite. We got to play outside and it was my birthday. Have a nice weekend! 

The School store
Amanda Butkus

Hey!!! The opening of the school store was this past Wednesday! There were a lot of items to choose from like pencils, erasers, pens, bookmarks, bags, shirts and other cool items. The school store was in everybody’s conversation in the hall. Everyone was prepared to shop on Wednesday. A lot of us brought his or her money. The store is open and already there’s a long line. I was overwhelmed with the many choices of cool items.  I couldn’t decide on a pen or the bookmark.  So, I decided on the koala bear. There were many of students buying some pretty cool stuff that they will enjoy. After shopping you get a raffle ticket. Now everybody has a raffle ticket for each class. Everybody is hoping to win. Uh-oh it’s three o’clock. That means the store is closing and everyone has to return to class and finish up their work.  The next day the class that won the raffle ticket was Mrs. Deputy.   Congratulations to Mrs. Deputy’s class.

What’s Happening in Lunch and Recess
☺By Jolene See☺
Topic Covered: Lunch/Recess

What's happening in lunch? Recess? If u want to find out keep on reading.
Hey this is Jolene See reporting for Lunch and Recess. Lunch was the usual all week long. On Monday we had BBQ rib patty for lunch. Also on Tuesday, we had Ham/Egg cheese croissant, Wednesday we had chicken nuggets, and on Thursday we had shrimp poppers. my personal favorite of the week is the shrimp poppers. Sometimes our noise level was loud and sometimes it was quieter then before. When us 5th graders see those sixth graders getting ready to head out to recess, we all can't wait until it is our turn to leave the cafeteria.

Now that takes us to recess, the moment we all wait for through out the morning. Football games, soccer games and chatting happened all week. Just the usual recess we have everyday. Some people played on the playground others on the swings, and even some in the basketball court. I'm hoping for another great lunch and Recess today, Friday. So there you have it. That's the scoop on Lunch and recess.

Have a happy weekend!!!!

Happy Friday!!!
We had another great week at MOT!  The students are working on their Whangdoodle stories in writing.  What is a whangdoodle?  It is an imaginary creature of undefined shape and form.  The students created their creatures in an interesting way.  But I will let them tell you all about it.  For reading, the students are using the ideas that they learned in Social Studies to understand many of the cultural ideas in the novel, Homesick by Jean Fritz.  The setting of Homesick is China in the 1920’s.  It is the era of change in China from its ancient feudalism to the new Communist government.  It is full of examples of the idea of culture.  The students will be going on a field trip to see the play “The Phantom Tollbooth” which is based on the book.  The field trip will be on October 23rd.  Please send in your field trip forms and money as soon as possible.  Next week will be a four day week because of a teacher in-service.

Mathematics:
By Arif Peracha
Some students have discovered an easier way to multiply. Fifth graders have been introduced to the all-partials method in multiplication. Other students want to stick to the traditional method (like me).
In the all-partials method, you write the factors in expanded form. Then you multiply the numbers you got from that (except for the numbers from the same factor). Unlike the traditional method, you don’t add any zeros.. When you add up all the addends, which you got from multiplying the numbers that are from the expanded form of the factors, you get your product.
We took an assessment on multiplication and big numbers. On the assessment there was a chart and we did word problems that could be solved by using it. For example, we had to list numbers in order from least to greatest.. Those numbers were very large, and most of them were in the billions. There was also one where we had to estimate to figure out a numerative variable.
Throughout the week we did D.P.P.    D.P.P is an acronym for daily practice page. We do D.P.P as soon as we get into Mrs. Lomas’s classroom. The D.P.P usually has something to do with the lesson we are supposed to do that day. At the end we review the answers (or most).
Don’t forget to study your basic multiplication facts and bring in their flash cards on Monday. Other than that, have a great weekend!

Study Skills and Map
By:  Nick Salati

This week in Social Studies we had a test on the Mid Atlantic states and it is only October!  These states include Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania.  The test wasn't that hard if you studied.

Mainly we did study skills, including flash cards, pre-test, and my favorite method; read and think.  These methods will help you study on reports, quizzes, and tests.  On Thursday we got to share what we do for studying and we got our test back.  Some are picky about studying and some are not.

To end the article, studying makes a difference if you work a little bit harder.  I hope everyone has a good Friday and weekend.

This week in related arts, we had P.E. It was pretty fun because we finished up the fitness test, well everyone except me. Mr. C introduced the class to the ultimate Frisbee unit we were going to do next class. This week we also had Spanish. We took the exam and finished our sheet that we colored and cut it out and put it on construction paper and added the interview onto the bottom of the construction paper. When we were taking the exam, I put my folder up and the answer sheet was in front of me in the pocket in the folder. Unfortunately, Senora Oche found out and took my folder. A couple people laughed but when she said I could have gotten in trouble if I did that in middle school, everyone stopped laughing.  We also had an exciting art class this week. We got to draw a snowman and the scene around it was night time. We had to include a scarf, stars, the moon, a shovel, a snowperson, and mittens. As some people saw how many stars I drew. I enjoyed art class this week. We also had music. This was pretty fun too because I saw a big bell and it made a loud sound. I said that it looked like a big mallet. I think a lot of people enjoyed having Bob, Ms. Dean’s pet fish. Well that is the coverage for related arts. Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!

                                                                                By: Haley Peck
Everyone likes lunch and recess. It's our favorite part of the day. I'm talking about lunch and recess. People play lots of sports and games. People also like taking and laughing too! At lunch most kids like to talk. But others just like to eat there lunch and not talk. At recess we play soccer, football, and tag. The most popular sport at recess is soccer and football. There are a lot more sports we play at recess. One last thing every day all of our swings are filled up. So that means a lot of people like to swing. So in conclusion lots of people like to play soccer, football, and some times tag. At lunch we talk and laugh. We some times want more recess.

A Note from Mrs. Rogers-Newman:
Happy Friday!!
I hope that you are enjoying our Friday Notes.  They will be published on every week that contains five days.  The students are doing an awesome job reporting the events of our week’s scholastic and social experiences!  I love reading their work, so the Thursday nights are fun for me.  I love the fact that they must type their notes and email them.  It truly becomes a real life journalistic experience.  This week the students added the concept of keyboarding on the computer to their knowledge base.  They are memorizing the keyboard by using funny word jingles.  I am testing them on their knowledge of the placement of the keys on the keyboard.  They actually have only 30 seconds to write all of the keyboard letters in their correct spots using a blank keyboard! I already have a number of students who have memorized the entire keyboard!  This experience is not for a grade.  It will help them to begin that process of learning to keyboard without looking!!!!!  The challenge is for each individual to learn the keyboard at their own rate.  I am giving a quiz every day for the next few weeks.  Thirty seconds and they win!!!  It does not matter whether they win today or next week.  It does not matter.  I want them to learn the keyboard and to have fun learning for the sake of learning!  They will be keyboarding in their technology classes as well.  The students will be doing a great deal of typing this year, so this skill will be essential.  It would be wonderful if the students could have an additional keyboarding program at home.  A computer software gift of this kind might be a great gift to give for a surprise or a holiday!!!

In language arts we have been talking about a whangdoodle and what it means. Were writing a story in class and it has are whangdoodle in it that we made in class. Well do you know what a whangdoodle is? A whangdoodle is an imaginary creature of undefined shape or form. In class we made a whangdoodle. We made it by drawling a head and then we gave it to someone in class and they would draw the arms and shirt then someone would draw legs and last someone would draw feet. The person that made the head would get that one back and then they would have a whangdoodle. Now in class were writing a story and are whangdoodle is in it and the whangdoodle can be a good or bad person and a lot more too also the story is an assignment. I think it’s a really fun assignment. That’s my report for what happened in language arts this week. Have a great weekend.

How Big Can Numbers Get?!?
9-26-08
Isaac Jennings

This week in math class we worked on rounding big numbers and multiplying big numbers in our head.  We also worked with all of the types of number forms, which include standard form, word form, and expanded form.

While rounding numbers and working with the forms of numbers, we had altogether 3 pages of homework. But Thursday was different because we had a substitute for Mrs. Lomas--all we did was a practice page, which took like everyone only 5 minutes to complete so we had approximately forty-five minutes left.  Every one at my table read 25 or more pages that class. One homework assignment was to find a number and write it in word form, expanded form, and standard form. Another assignment was to round and estimate if the addition, subtraction, or multiplication problem will end up to be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 digits.

In conclusion, we will probably be working with big numbers and multiplying in our heads for another week and be given at least three more homework assignments based on what we learned last week.

Maps and states with Mrs. Rogers-Newman
By: Savannah Greene

During this fabulous week in Mrs. Rogers-Newman’s class the 5th grade students worked on maps of the Middle Atlantic. That means we studied Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.

During these fun activities students learned the shapes of states. This helps them memorize the states, including how they connect and were they are as well. Mrs. Rogers-Newman says, “It is a great experience for learning the world around you and great for studying!” That is some words of logic. Now I know a great way to study!
Have a great weekend!! 

Science:
What did we do in science this week?
By: Becca Kokoszka
This week in science we are wondering why the grass is dying. We are also wondering why the company sent us small crickets instead of the big crickets. Some people sayed it was because of how much they may eat how much room they may need. We also learned about autocrats, primary consumers, secondary consumers. This week we put together an ecocolum. An ecocolum is where you have like grass growing on the top which is called a traium, a tube next and then the aquarium.
On Thursday we went over homework then we wrote the 4Th graders a note telling them about the ecosystem. well don't forget the ecosystem  is always around us.

This week we had a break from NWEA! Finally!
This week in Spanish we were going over the answers to next week's quiz. People who wanted to share their interviews and everyone else took notes on things like their favorite book, their full name and their birthday.
The art class was a treat to most of us because we finished our underwater scenes for Square One Art. We did this by finishing our sketches and using sharpie to outline. We also used water colors to fill the extra space. When it was finished it looked very nice.
During music we did our exercises and we couldn't get pass the note So. Then we tried to play bells to the song "Get on Your Feet." It didn't turn out very successfully. It was very loud and it hurt my eardrums!  Even though, it was fun at the same time.
During technology we didn't have to do NWEA. We finished our lesson that we started last week. The lesson was about computers inside and outside.
This week was very exciting and I hope next week is as exciting as this week was.

This Week’s Lunch and Recess News
By Tadd Liss

What did you do at recess and have for lunch this week?

Monday for lunch we had a ham and cheese sub and fries.  Tuesday we had Belgian waffle sticks and sausage.  Wednesday for lunch we had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries.  On Thursday were MOT’s famous ultimate nachos – one of my favorites!!!!! YUM!!!!  Friday’s lunch is deep-dish pizza, another one of my favorite lunches and if one piece of pizza does not fill you up you can buy another piece with cash.  Of course you could have also picked the hamburger, egg salad or PBJ.  MOT’s staff does a great job selecting our lunches for us, so next time you run into one of those staff members, thank them for doing such an awesome job.  The lunches are not only healthy for us but good and fun to eat!!!

On Monday at recess I was playing football and I saw some kids playing soccer and talking on the hill at the far end of the field.  While I was playing football Derek threw the football to someone and I intercepted the ball.  Some kids were talking to the teachers, playing tag, basketball or were on the jungle gym.  On Tuesday I played football again.  The last five minutes of recess Keith ran out to the field and played quarterback.  Wednesday and Thursday I played football, which as you can see is one of my favorite sports to play.  I also plan on playing football during Friday’s recess.

Remember to always eat a good lunch and do something fun that you enjoy at recess.

Have a Happy Weekend!!! 

Mrs. Rogers-Newman¡¦s Class Friday Notes:
September 19, 2008

A Note from Mrs. Rogers-Newman:
Happy Friday!!
Welcome to our premier first edition of our 2008-2009 Friday Notes.  This year, our focus at MOT Charter School is writing. Writing in real life situations is an essential part of the writing experience. It is a wonderful way to help the students take an active role in their learning.  Each week seven students will choose their area of interest (school subject or event). They will take notes about what they learned during the week. On Thursday evening, the students will write a rough copy of their notes and then type a final copy to be sent via email to the editor of Friday Notes. Since this is a learning opportunity for the students, I will not make revisions to their work. (I will correct minor typing errors!) This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to see their own growth as writers throughout the year. We will have mini-lessons on various aspects of news article writing and the job of being a journalist.  We started this week!  Students read news articles from Scholastic News and discussed the concepts of headlines, bylines, leads, the body of an article, endings, as well as writing details within those articles. I think that this is an incredible first edition of our Friday Notes.  The students who were this week¡¦s reporters were the first to complete this assignment and I congratulate them on an outstanding job!   I am very proud of these students and their excellent work and I know that you will be too when you read this premier edition of Mrs. Rogers-Newman¡¦s Friday Notes.  This is sure to be a collector¡¦s edition!!!!

ļļļEnjoy reading!!ļļļ

My Friday Notes
By: Jessica Foster
"The gypsies are coming, the gypsies are coming!"
That was from a poem book by Silverstein. Another book we read part of was A Wrinkle in Time. It's about a girl and her family who have no clue where their father is and they try to find him.  We read about good reporters in Writer Express. It talked about the headline, the byline, the lead, the body, and the ending. We also read Scholastic News. It said that they might remake money and makes some money smaller then others.  It said not to gossip or spread rumors about people. It said don¡¦t confront someone and if you're mean to someone apologize to them. One article talked about allowing class pets. People from the magazine said, "no" because if the pet bites someone it could spread a disease. Someone else said, "yes" because it would teach responsibility. We shared the last Me, Myself, and I projects.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed the Scholastic News and learned a lot. I hope we continue to read them throughout the year.

Notes: In math we are learning about estimates. We also also are talking about periods and in are work books we are learning millions, and our hundreds. In our text book we are reading about eyelets .They are the holes you stick your shoe laces through. We are learning how to skip count  1000 to 10,000.

Body:
In math we are estimating it is an educated guess an approximation of an answer. To calculate the value or amount of something. To give an approximate rather than an exact answer. Skip count is where you can count in either tens, twentys, ones, hundreds and etc.

Ending: The thing in math they will remember is to also estimate on the higher side then the lower side. When rounded always remember to round to the nearest tens, hundreds or thousands.

Social Studies:
Anno¡¦s USA
By: Mark Dennison

Anno¡¦s USA is a picture book of culture. This week in Social Studies class we were able to look at the book in groups of four. We saw things like the Paul Bunyan, Boston Tea Party, different places in the United States, Charlotte¡¦s Web and Super Man. It was a cool book, but it did not have any reading.
Monday through Wednesday we learned about Anno. Anno is the author of the book we read. He is from Japan. People called him The Traveler because he traveled from Japan all across the United States.  He wrote many books without words, but some of them have words. His book had to do with different cultures such as Indians, frontiers, and pioneers. In the pictures, we learned that Indians did a lot of trading. They lived in teepees. They hunted for food. I saw a picture of the pioneers on the Mayflower. Also, there was a picture of the Boston Tea Party. I know that the taxes were too high so they protested by dumping the tea off the boat. Paul Bunyan was a cool picture. He was a big guy and there is a statue of him that was made. He was in a parade in New York. I also saw places in Anno¡¦s USA book I was San Francisco with a big bridge and New York with twin towers.
On Thursday, we worked on a project with our own culture. We are using pictures with little words just like Anno. We took puzzle pieces and drew about our culture. For example, I am 25% Italian so my favorite food is pizza which is very Italian. I was born in America in Delaware therefore I like a lot if things that Americans do. I like to play and watch baseball, which is America¡¦s pastime. I like hotdogs that is American and I eat at them baseball games. At the end, the puzzle will be put together with everyone else¡¦s culture and favorites and it will be a puzzle of culture with little words like Anno¡¦s.
In conclusion, I learned a lot this week in Social Studies. I learned that things are not always written in words. I can learn a lot by looking at pictures. Anno¡¦s book was pictures of past events and recent events. To end the week, we started putting our own pictures together of ourselves with cultures and favorite stuff. People will be able to look at that and get an idea of us without words.

Science:
What did we do in Science?
By Amanda Butkus
We are making and learning about ecosystems in science. We have land and water ecosystem. We have bugs, fish, and plants. From Monday-Wednesday we have observed our aquarium. Some of the fishes died and people were sad. We had to read about fish and the plants. But luckily, Art brought more guppies for the grade. So the people that had dead fish have another living fish to replace it. Then we put algae in there.  Then we started talking about isopods and crickets. Then we discussed living and non-living things. Once we were done, we began to observe the crickets and the isopods. While we were observing the crickets and isopods, we logged our information on paper.  We wrote them by shape, size, color and other important information. Then put the isopods into our terrarium.  Later the teacher put the crickets into the terrarium. We were all responsible of doing this mobile. It¡¦s very fun and we learn interesting things everyday. We didn¡¦t have any homework. Everybody was happy about that. That¡¦s my science report for the week.

Art Class
By Alec Eschenwald

September 15, 2008 Mrs. Rogers-Newman¡¦s class was in Art class.  We started to draw pictures on water colored paper.
Everybody took a piece of paper, a pencil and sketched a picture out of under the sea books.  But, not Jonathan (Johnny) Ramos, he copied his sister.  ¡§I wanna do that to make her mad!  That would be funny!¡¨  There was only two pictures on the board because they were what you were supposed to do.   And one of them was Johnny¡¦s sister¡¦s.  The next day he said she was furious!  Who will know what will happen next!?
Art class is very fun, but according to Johnny, it¡¦s a risk!
Have a fabulous weekend!

Do You Know What¡¦s Going on at Mot Charter School?
By Matt Andrus

Say Cheese! Mot 5th grade students are all excited about picture day on September 19. Everyone seems to be getting there hair cut and can¡¦t wait for this event.

What was the weather like this week at Mot?
Weather has been great, so we¡¦ve had outdoor recess everyday. Recess has been lots of fun. Most of us 5th grade guys played football, but there were a few that played soccer or maybe tag. I¡¦m not sure what the girls did, probably talk to there friends.

What delicious things were for lunch this week?
I haven¡¦t bought school lunches this week, but a lot of other students have. Thursday they had shrimp poppers and basically every one bought them. I guess shrimp is popular in our school¡K yumm!

How was related arts this week?
Art was also fun this week. We made a picture of fish underwater. I love to draw, so I really enjoyed it. I think all the other 5th graders did too!

This week was a great week. Hopefully all the other ones will be just as wonderful. But I know they will, because Mot is a great school for everyone.

Lunch/Recess News:
By Connor Davis

Yum, this is good!  Hi, my name is Connor Davis and I am the lunch and recess news reporter for this week.
Do you have your hand wipes ready for the Monday BBQ ribs?  On Tuesday, it is the classic MOT muffin.  Wednesday, we are offering the everyday favorite of chicken nuggets.  And don¡¦t throw those hand wipes out yet because on Thursday it is our famous shrimp poppers.  Also for lunch this week, they are offering salad, hamburger, PB & J and tuna for options other than the main meal. All of these lunches are nutritious and healthy.  These lunches have been selected by our professional and specialty trained staff members.
When you get out to recess don¡¦t forget the field is divided into thirds.  Some will be playing soccer and some will be playing football.  The others on the playground will be playing tag and hide-n-seek.
It is a good week at MOT for nutritious meals.  After lunch, if you¡¦re looking to have fun and play soccer or football go to the MOT field located in the back of the school.
Have a great weekend!
