September 15 through October 15 is a period to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month. The observation started in 1968,celebrating as Hispanic Heritage week under President Lyndon Johnson. President Ronald Reagan later expanded Hispanic Heritage recognition to one month.
Spanish II, III,IV and Enrichment are celebrating this period starting with a fiesta on September 15 and September 16. On these two days we will celebrate the independence of Mexico and Chile. Throughout this period students will research Famous Hispanics:(entertainers, scientists, politicians, etc.) and their contributions to history. This will follow with a one-page written biography in English and an oral summary to the class in Spanish.
*Block A biographies are due on Monday, September 29, 2008.
*Block B biographies are due on Friday, September 26, 2008.
All classes will be given time to work on their biographies during regular class time.
Also, during this period students will review everyday greetings, grammar and practice basic conversation with each other and with me. We will practice through games and oral and written activities.
Please remember to save your cans (all kinds of cans) for recycling. We will continue to use the money to purchase some of items we need for class and fiestas.
If you have any difficulties with completing assignments, or just to say HOLA, please email me at
