Reading Goal due Friday
Writing Goal is a final poetry book  We are working on this in class so students DO NOT need to work on their poetry assingment at home

*A new reading and writing contract will be coming home on Friday, April 11th.  Students will need to select a book to read for their final reading goal.  For their writing goal students will be creating a poetry book consisting of 10 descriptive poems.  We will be beginning a poetry study in writer's workshop so students will be working on developing their poetry everyday in class!

This week we are working on how to incorporate imagery into our poetry.  Ask your student how they described birthday cake!!??

This week we are also learning about scale drawings and looking at what makes a good scale drawing.  This will help students lay out their 2-D drawing of their mill.  Remember that we are working on mill projects EVERYDAY in class so it is IMPERATIVE that students come prepared to work everyday!

We are also discussing the industrial revolution and how this changed America as we work on our mill projects.  Students are discussing what happened after the Civil War with the development of industry.  Some of our focus questions for this study are:

*What factors influenced the development of the industrial revolution?

*What were the social, political, economic, and environmental impacts of the industrial revolution?

*How is energy related to industry?

If you have any questions or concerns please email me at anytime!
