A letter will be been sent home about ordering from Scholastic Book Clubs online. If you prefer that I place your order, just send a check to school made out to Scholastic Book Clubs. Do not include tax.
Book Logs are different from reading logs. The book logs are where the books are listed that your child has read. If your child is reading a chapter book just list the chapters. Place one chapter on each line.
PLEASE SEND IN BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION- classrooms compete to bring in the most and the classroom that has the most is rewarded!
The reading logs your students are assigned each month are not optional activities. They each count as one test grade. They are assigned at the beginning of each month and are a reinforcement of the reading and comprehension skills taught that month. Please be sure your student completes these activities.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
PE class is held every Tuesday and Wednesday!

When your child reads to you, help them to improve their comprehension by asking them questions about what they have just read. Ask them to retell the story to you in their own words, giving as much detail as they possibly can. Ask them who the characters are, what was the setting, did they enjoy the story and why/why not. Ask them if there was anything that they didn't understand in the story, and if there was, ask them what they did to clarify it. Help them make a connection to the text by asking them if any of the characters in the story reminded them of themselves, or if any of the events or pictures in the book reminded them of something that has happened in their lives. Help them to make a connection to other texts by asking them if the story/book reminds them of another one.
