Thank you for supporting our book fair! It was a great success!

Welcome to the ANS Library Homepage!

All classes have library once every week, usually during their reading time. During library time, students may work on library skills, or they might have story time. Everyone may check out one book each week.  We hold a book fair in the school library twice a year. For the 2007-2008 school year, the book fairs are in October and March.

Did you know...
that Saint Margaret of Scotland is one of many patron saints of learning?
Here is a prayer in recognition of her:
O God, who called your servant Margaret to an earthly throne that she might advance your heavenly kingdom, and gave her zeal for your church and love for your people: Mercifully grant that we who commemorate her this day may be fruitful in good works, and attain to the glorious crown of your saints; though Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Love your books!

Taking proper care of our library books is the best way to guarantee that we have them for a long time.

Try this: Never loan your library book out to someone else. If you checked out a book, it is your responsibility. Loaning it to a friend can create problems if the friend loses it or damages it. The library's records will show that you were the person who borrowed the book, so you will be responsible for any fines.

Visit Our Garden of Readin'!

More than 100 students in grades K through 5 participated in our voluntary summer reading program. Their beautiful reading flowers will be on display outside the library for a little while longer. Be sure to take a look at how much we read over the summer! All of our summer readers will receive Chick-Fil-A coupons courtesy of the Chick-Fil-A in St. Charles Towne Center. We thank Mr. John Flatley, owner/operator of that restaurant, for his generous donation.

Reminder to Eighth-Grade Students:

Your library skills assignment consisting of the "Reading is Believing" index card was due on Friday, September 28. Please turn in your card ASAP to avoid losing any more points! Remember, library skills assignments count towards your grade in reading.

Try It, You'll Like It!

Can't decide on a book to check out? Tired of the same old thing? If you need some ideas, just read the student reviews below!

Caroline H., Grade 6, recommends that you read The Adventures of Vin Fiz by Clive Cussler. Main characters, Lasey and Casey, receive a magical box that can turn any toy into the real thing! How great would that be? Our heroes use the magical box to help others. Caroline gives this book 3 out of 4 stars. You can find it in the 4-8 fiction section.

Third-grader Brittany M. checked out the New Junior Cook Book by Jan Miller, and she gives it four stars! She says it has recipes for every meal of the day, plus some special "celebration" recipes. Sounds yummy! This book is in nonfiction for grades 1-3, in the 600s (Technology).

Quint B. in fourth grade just finished reading The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman, and he says it was one of the best books ever! It's the story of four fifth-graders who use a machine to to their homework and get good grades. Quint says this book kept his interest.

Watch this space for more reviews by our students.
