At this time 6th grade students continue to work on cupstacking, juggling and classroom games. We have also been participating in our own Calverton Olympics.
Students in Grades 3-4-5-6 have a homework assignment (Olympics 2010) which is due Wednesday, March 3, 2010. This will be graded and is 10% of their grade.
Students in grades 3-4-5 are continuing their Recreation Unit. They are participating in Table Tennis to improve eye hand coordination. They will learn the correct technique of serving, returning the ball and scoring. The winners will challenge Mr. Daniels to a game!
The 4th grade Bowling Field Trip that was planned for Tuesday, Feb. 16 has been cancelled but will be rescheduled for April. We will be sending new permission forms home soon.
Grades k-1-2 have completed a cupstacking unit and students in grades k-1-2 are now playing modified bowling. Students are learning to step and roll, rules, etiquette and bowling terms(strike & spare). They are doing a great with this unit and enjoy choosing team names and are great at cheering each other on and encouraging other students.
To maintain safe and active participation for your child during PE class, students should wear TENNIS SHOES with laces or velcro. Students may change from boots etc., into their tennis shoes during PE class. Please avoid sandals and slide on tennis shoes with no backs, tennis shoe skates and tennis shoes with no laces.
Students should dress appropriately for Physical Education. This includes wearing belts when necessary. Girls should wear shorts or long pants underneath skirts or dresses.
Rules/policies have been discussed with all P.E. classes and are reviewed during class. These rules/policies are posted. A copy of the rules/policies will be distributed upon parent request.
Students will be graded on the following:
70% participation-20% assessments-10% homework
