SPRING News

It is time for the INVENTORY of the books in the media center. Somne sections of the media center will be closed as Mrs. Cavallo inventories them between and after classes.

We submitted 37 books to the county Write-A-Book Festival on time. We appreciate everyone who helped us finish. Remember to keep on writing stories for the Calverton Book Festival!! See below for the timeline and due dates.

We have 17 boxes of new books and more are coming. We have a lot of new Fiction and Everybody books and are awaiting new history and geography books soon. Mrs. Cavallo will have to make room on our shelves to hold all of the new books!!

All library books will be due back to the media center at the end of May. Lost books need to be paid for before report cards are released at the end of the year.

LATE OR LOST LIBRARY BOOKS
Each grading period, report cards will be held for any student in 2nd through 6th grade who still has out a book that is a month or more overdue. These books need to be returned or paid for BEFORE the report card is released.

PLEASE help your child look for lost books.  Often, they CAN be found.  Books might have slipped under a bed or sofa, be found under a pile of papers, on a bookshelf at home or on a classroom bookshelf.  Please see me if the child insists the book was returned and we can check the shelf in the Media Center.  I do not have time to look for 200 books, but looking for one is not a problem.  Thanks for your help and understanding.

Procedures and Policies

Kindergarten -  all classes will check out books, but books are kept in classroom and DO NOT GO HOME!

First Grade - may check out one book each time that the class has media; books should be kept in desk, the book must be returned before another book is checked out. BOOKS DO NOT GO HOME!

Second and Third Grades - may check out one book, must be returned before another book is checked out; lost books must be paid for or report card held.

Fourth through Sixth Grades - may check out one book and that book must be returned to check out another. Exceptions might be made for special school reports. In January, anyone with no overdue books may check out a total of two books, if one is still checked out a second may be checked out.  Lost books must be paid for or report cards will be held.

I will save books for the next day if a student forgets the library book(s) on his or her Media Day.
