Welcome to second quarter!

Art 1- All Art 1 students have been issued sketchbook assignments for 2nd quarter.  These assignments will be collected in a sketchbook on
Monday December 10- "B" Day
Tuesday December 11- "A" Day

Parents, please help your child by reminding them to work on these assignments now, rather than waiting until the week before they are due.

I have checked to make sure all students have a 3-ring binder for this class.  The check was a 10 point homework assignment.  In addition, students were given an assignment completion log to keep in the front of the binder.  This will help them stay organized and keep track of the assignments turned in and the score recieved.

We are currently working on an observational drawing.  This is a 3 day assignment.  Any student who is absent suring this time should plan to make up the work either before school, after school, or during spartan hour.

Drawing & Painting- I have collected Sketchbook Packet #1.  These will be coming back to students today and tomorrow.  Students are currently working on a self portrait in class.

Homework-  I will check this next week.
Take your sketchbook with you during spartan hour.  Find at least 2 people who are willing to model for you.  Using a full page, draw a portrait of each person.  This may take more than one day to complete.  You have at least 5 days to get this done.  I will check them Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Art Club- Thank you to everybody for making my birthday lunch special!  Everything was delicious.  Yesterday art club students enjoyed a sandwich lunch as we watched charlie Brown's "The Great Pumpkin."  We will not meet next week as I will be out of the building at a Painting workshop.  Any student in need of community service hours- please see me.  I have artwork to hang throughout the school.

EXTRA CREDIT!!
The Art Institutes will be here for another visit on Friday November 30th during spartan hour.  Any student who comes to this lecture will recieve extra credit in my class.  Plan to arrive by 10:40 and you may also bring our lunch.

You may also bring in art room supplies for a few extra points... glue, tissues, antibacterial, sharpies, pencils

In addition, if you go to an art museum this quarter, write about your experience and submit for extra credit.  Include sketches and/or pictures or postcards.

ART 1 is a foundation course... but where can a student go from Art 1?

Any student can take Crafts I.

Computer Graphics I, Drawing&Painting I, Ceramics I, or Sculpture I are also available.

IB ART is a wonderful 2 year course students may take after Art 1.  If you are in 10th grade and like art or evern just like to learn, consider taking IB ART.

AP STUDIO ART is available for students who excel in Art 1 or a second level art course.

See me with any questions or concerns.
