Welcome to English 10.

All students in English 10 are required to take the High School Assessment and must pass it to receive a high school diploma.  We will be working towards each students successful achievement of the goals and standards necessary to pass the test which will be administered in May 2007.  The student's reading ability is of critical importance since the test is written on a 10th grade reading level.

Journals JOURNALS ARE DUE MONDAY 1/8/07

Your journal will count as 20 percent of your grade in this course.  It is important that you keep your journal up to date and that you complete assignments carefully and thoughtfully.  All entries should be at least one full page and must be attached firmly to the pages.  No loose papers will be counted.

Quarter 3 Journal Entries Assigned

In your journal, tell about a time when you had a hard time accepting the truth.  Be sure to include who told you, what they said, your reaction and how the truth changed you.

Reading Project

Student's in Ms. Reed's English classes will have an outside reading requirement that constitutes 20 percent of each quarter's grade.  The grade earned is based upon the quantity that a student reads and "logs" successfully.
