Monday:  
There won’t be any spelling words or story this week because we have a Unit 2 test.  

Math – pg. 46B

Tuesday:

Math – pg. 47B

Wednesday:   ½ Day; All-School Mass; Grandparent’s Day

Thursday: No School – Happy Thanksgiving    

Friday: No School

For the week of November 30th:

Monday:  

Math – pg. 48B

Spelling – write words 2 times

Religion – test due on Friday

Tuesday:

Math – pg. 49B

Spelling – ABC Order

Wednesday:

Spelling – sentences – write one sentence for each word, underline the spelling word, circle the action word (verb).

Thursday:

Spelling – study for test

Reading – re-read story for test tomorrow (see study guide)

Friday: ½ day

No Homework

Please make sure that the students are reading every night and that their bookmark is filled out and returned the next day.

Please remember that only math papers are due the next day.  Spelling and all other homework is not due until Friday.

Please make sure to sign the behavior logs and the agendas every night.

I will grade this week’s spelling homework on Monday so that they can have the books to do homework over the weekend.

Reminders:

December 11 - Flat Stanley should return home to the children by this date

December 18 -   Sandwich book report due

January 15-  The final Flat Stanley posters are due

2nd Grade Notes

Religion -  In religion this week, we will continue to discuss the importance of forgiveness and understand the different ways to go to confession.

Math – We will be learning to create and read a Venn diagram and bar graph.  We will also learn how to order two-digit numbers and how to identify a line of symmetry.

Social Studies – We will compare and contrast farming and farming technology now and long ago.  We will learn what a product map is and how to read it.  We will identify changes in transportation between now and in the past.    

Science –  We will discuss how plants and animals help each other and the things that can cause a food web to change.

Spelling – We will talk about words with the long e sound spelled with e, ee, ea, and y. We will also talk about suffixes.

Reading -We will talk about cause and effect while reading our story.  We will also learn about drop-down menus on computers.  It might be useful to show them on a computer at home.

English (Grammar) – They will be learning verbs (action words) and how to form abbreviations.

gasped – breathed in fast and loud

frantically – in an excited/worried way

delicious – tasting very good

Please review these words with your child
during the week.  Some of them will be on the reading test on Friday.  They need to know the words and what they mean.

They will also be bonus words on the spelling test.  So, please make sure that they use them as part of their spelling homework during the week.  They should also write them two times, put them in ABC order, and
use them in a sentence.

Reread the story Head, Body and Legs on pgs. 300 – 325.

Review vocabulary words

Identify verbs in a sentence and form abbreviations
