For the week of November 9th:

Monday:  

Spelling – write the words 2 times

Math – pg. 39B

Religion – take home test due on Friday

Tuesday:

Spelling – ABC Order

Math – pg. 40B

Wednesday:   No School – Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thursday:

Spelling – sentences and study for test tomorrow

Friday:  

No Homework
  
Social Studies – take home test due next Friday (November 20th)

Reading test for Farfallina and Marcel will be on Monday (see study guide)

Science – test next Tuesday (see study guide)

Notes:

Please make sure that the students are reading every night and that their bookmark is filled out and returned the next day.

Please remember that only math papers are due the next day.  Spelling and all other homework is not due until Friday.

Please make sure to sign the behavior logs and the agendas every night.

I will grade this week’s spelling homework on Monday so that they can have the books to do homework over the weekend.

Reminders:

Saturday, November 21 -  1st Communion Retreat (parents and children): 8:30am – 12 pm in the Church Hall

Vocabulary Words

Peered – looked over or around

Giggled - laughed

Snuggled – held closely

Fluttered – flapped wings quickly

Vanished – no longer able to be seen

Recognized – knew from an earlier time

Please review these words with your child
during the week.  Some of them will be on the reading test on Friday.  They need to know the words and what they mean.

They will also be bonus words on the spelling test.  So, please make sure that they use them as part of their spelling homework during the week.  They should also write them two times, put them in ABC order, and
use them in a sentence. The science test will be on November 17.  The students should know the following information.

Science Study Guide:

Mammals have bones and either fur or hair and feed milk to its babies.

Examples of animals with backbones are dogs, cats, skunks, and chipmunks.

Fish have fins to help them swim in the water.

The mule deer’s fur changes in summer and winter.

The second layer of feathers on a penguin help them to keep warm.

Light skin helps a desert iguana from getting too hot.

Catfish have feelers to help them find food in the dark.

A frog’s smooth, wet skin helps them to live in a moist environment.

A spider builds a web to trap insects.


Reading Study Guide:

The Reading test on Farfallina and Marcel  will be on Monday, November 16th.  Please study the following information.

Please re-read the story on pages 234-255.

Know the vocabulary words that are on the spelling list.

Know what synonyms are –  for example - go over synonyms for the vocabulary words.

Know about adding ‘s and s’ to words.  We will be going over this concept during the week.
