Upcoming Test - SW Asia Unit Test - Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 and Wednesday, December 10th, 2008.

Current Project - Arab-Israeli Conflict Project
Due December 15th for A-day
Due December 16th for B-day
Students have the option of writing a journal entry from the perspective of an Israeli or Palestinian youth (2 pages) or to complete a posterboard project that describes the conflict. If you need more information, please e-mail me!
Homework Assignments for the 2nd Quarter:
1. Southwest Asia Geography Bookwork Homework
- Answer the map questions on pages 602, 604, 611, and 613 in the Eastern Hemisphere book.
- Section 2 Assessment - page 607 - #1-2 all parts
- Write a paragraph about the importance oil or water for the people of SW Asia
2. Hammurabi's Code Current Event Article
- Find a current event article that deals with a crime. Write a paragraph summary. Also write how Hammurabi would punish the individual and why.
3. Election maps - complete an election map
4. Epic of Gilgamesh Character Project - e-mail me if you need more information
5. Christianity Worksheet - Due 11-18 for A-days, 11-19 for B day students.
6. Make-up work - Eastern Hemisphere pages 763, 765, 768, & 771
-History of Our World - pages 60 and 297
-All responses must be in complete sentences

The following sections will be covered this school year. Also, students will learn about current events throughout the year.

Daily Class Materials:

Social Studies Folder or binder (for homework and returned papers)
Occasionally other items will be needed for class and will be noted in advance.
Students will also receive grade sheets every 3-4 weeks that need to be signed by a parent.
Attendance:
Attendance is mandatory for all class periods. If a student is absent, the school wide attendance policy will be followed.
Students should remember to:
Respect yourself and others.
Follow directions the first time they are given.
Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.
Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise.
Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Keep food and drinks at home.
