We are off to the West tomorrow. Thanks to all of the parents who could juggle their days off. The students do not need to bring lunch tomorrow because we will eat the stew when we arrive at the Smith Center. We are “jumping off” from Lake Frank and hiking about 2 hours to the Smith Center. We will arrive back at school by 1:45. Parents please remember that you need to carpool to Lake Frank and get home from the Smith Center. Lots of parents have offered to “transport” wagons and people so hopefully this will not be an issue.
I also sent home permission slip for our field trip on Friday and the form and money needs to be in ASAP.
On the last day of school the students will be participating in a “Memories” program. Then the parent committee has organized a pool party. You should arrive at the Memories program by 9:15 and the students should be dressed in “church” clothes at their regular time. More information will be sent home by the end of next week. It is important for the students to be here the afternoon the day before Memories because that is the only time we have to practice in the gym.
The 8 times reading log is due this Friday. Each student is required to read for 20 minutes at least 4 times a week. Please sign your name on the paper to verify that your child did the required independent reading. They can “count” any reading that they do for school as part of their reading time. The students also have been given their independent reading log. After reading a novel they need to complete the assignment in their mini journal and turn it in so they can get a sticker on the chart.
Be sure you are checking the planner. If there is a “not turned in” stamp, then they need to complete the assignment and turn it in. If you child is absent they need to complete the assignments that was missed. If there is a neighbor who lives close by they can bring home the work. Please send in an absence note when your child returns to school.
