4th quarter is upon us!!!!
There are a lot of important papers coming home the next couple of weeks about field trips and end of year activities!!! We really appreciate the prompt return of any papers that need returned!!!!
We have started collecting empty ink cartridges to help cluster five! Any empty printer cartridges can be sent into school and they will be recycled! The money earned will go to helping 5th grade purchase some much needed books and resources.
The cold weather has taken a toll on the noses of 5-C!! We are in desperate need of tissues and hand sanitizer. If you would like to donate either of these items it would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thank you!!!
--- In Math:We are adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions. Students should be doing fraction problems at home for their math facts every night to practice, practice, practice their skills!!! Remind your students they should be bringing home the SRB to aid their studying throughout the week.
---In Social Studies: We are learning about the Early English Settlements and how they became the colonies that started our country as we know it today.
--In writing: We have just begun our Feature Article Unit and we are excited to apply our knowledge of non-fiction to this unique genre of writing.
---In Reading: We are in Theme 5 now that is titled "School Rules." The students have been exploring how they can relate to the characters in this interesting theme.
--Also, please remember to bring in your math logs and Book-it calendars!!!!
---A lot of students have been failing to bring in their math logs and reading logs signed. It is their responsibility to write down what they completed and get it signed.

Homework----
Some homework will change from week to week but, spelling will be the same every week.
Spelling- Every Monday the students are given a spelling list and a sheet to complete.
The three things that are turned in every week are:
1. sentences- which are to be completed in their spelling journals. They should complete 10 sentences and they should include 2 spelling words each and they should be 10 words long.
2. sheet- The sheet is given to them with their list and it asks them to use skills such as: parts of speech and unscrambling(there are lots of different skills as well)
3. 3x's each-- We have beem focusing on our cursive handwriting this semester so this extra practice will help us in our efforts.
-------------------------------------------------------
Math-Every night for math we will have homework except for Friday. It might be in the book or sometimes it could be a handout.
---Something new that just started in the past week or so--- instead of just regular math facts for 10 minutes they can get on www.emgames.com and login and complete games for math facts-- if they do that they still need to get the log signed.------------
