Greetings Parents:
Hello again, I hope all is well!  It certainly has been a very busy time of year.  I have tried to provide a calendar of events for the remaining 6 weeks of school to help you and your child.  As I stated in my previous email the tests and quiz dates will be tentative.  I don’t foresee any reason to move any dates, but you never know.  As always if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask.
Also, I wanted to let you know that I will continue to your child start out on red each morning, and try to work hard to get compliments to move his/her color back to green.  Just a reminder the color order from worst to best is: red, purple, yellow, orange, blue, and green.

May 4th – Invention Convention Assigned
May 7th – Social Studies Quiz chapter 11
May 8th – Science Quiz activities 10-13 and Progress Reports
May 13th – Fallston Middle School Trip, and Science Quiz activities 14-15
May 14th – Patriot Assembly – 6-8pm
May 15th – 1pm Early Dismissal, Math Unit 11 Test, and Cool Kids Reading Ends
May 19th – Science Quiz 16-17, and Cool Kids Pledges due
May 20th – Field Day
May 21st – Social Studies Quiz
May 22nd – Field Day (Rain Date), and Science Unit Test
May 25th - School Closed
May 26th – Concert 7pm @ Fallston H.S.
May 29th – Invention Convention Due
June 1st – 1pm Early Dismissal
June 2nd – Patriot Field Trip 7-6pm
June 3rd – President’s Breakfast 9am, Math Unit 12 Test, Social Studies Quiz
June 4th – Harford Glen Trip 9-1:30pm
June 9th – Mark Wood Concert 7pm
June 11th – 9-11:30am Fifth Grade Picnic
June 12th – 9-11am Fifth Grade Farewell, and Last Day of School
CURRICULUM
     Writing – The students are currently working on persuasive pieces, and end the year with a writer’s workshop unit.
     Reading – The students will be reading short stories from their anthology.  These stories will have a variety of themes.  This month the theme is “American Adventure”.  In addition, they will read one chapter book in class in their literature circle.
     Math – The students will work on units on volume and probability.
     Science – The students will finish working on a unit on elements of life, and end the year with the family life unit.
     Social Studies- The students will finish work on a unit that deals with the Revolutionary War.
