Hello Parents, Students and Former Students!

The G/T Program is up and running and we are having a grand time!

Stimulating conversations and intriguing thinking happens in all of our Junior Great Books' Groups.  We are having grand conversations about interesting characters and the motivations for their behaviors.  Be sure to ask your children to share the stories with you at home.

The 3rd Grade G/T group will be engaging in the skill of deductive thinking beginning on October 8th.

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math flex groups are being challenged with creative problem solving.  This quarter, the students are working in individual math packets which they will take home when completed.

The 5th grade Stock Market Game has begun, and what an interesting experience this will be due to the current state of the economy.  The Stock Market Game consists of six teams who are each given $100,000 to invest in a diversified portfolio.  This simulation is done on computers using real life prices and runs from Oct. 6, to Dec. 12.  The students are also taught the basics of buying and selling stocks.

Please check out the website  www.spellingcity.com  where students can enter their own weekly spelling words to play games and even be given a pretest.  What will they think of next?

The Green Gators' Club began on September 24th and will meet Wednesdays during the year.  We have twenty-five excited 4th and 5th graders who are interested in protecting and saving our environment.  We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Cheryl Roettger (former 5th grade teacher) who is volunteering her time to co-lead our group.  Her expertise and enthusiasm for the outdoors will only enhance our activities.  Ms. Johanna DeLuigi (5th grade teacher) is also assisting.  Our plans will include maintaining the trail which all classes can utlize for outdoor education and learning how individuals can make a difference.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Cheers!
