April library notes. Kindergarten students will hear The Lady With the Alligator Purse and construct a take home story. We will hear the Black Eyed Susan Award book entitled, Falling for Rapunzel and play an X & O vocabulary game. We will hear Harry the Dirty Dog and Harry and the Lady Next Door by Zion. We will watch a video showing how Eric Carle creates his colorful illustrations for The Very Hungry Caterpillar. First grade students will read The Lost Tooth Club and write a story about how they lost a tooth. We will begin a unit on the Black Eyed Susan Award. This Award is given by the State of Maryland for outstanding literature. We will read the following: Henry’s Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad; John, Paul, George & Ben; Max’s Word; Chameleon, Chameleon; and Once Upon a Cool Motorcycle Dude. Second grade will continue their OPAC computer searching by author name. They will identify the call number, author and title information so that they can locate the books on the shelves.
