BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and YOU WILL REACH YOUR GOALS
I think I can ... I KNOW I CAN!!
Week of July 7, 2008
WOW!! It's July!! The fun is certainly going on all around Fallston!
We heard from Patrick Harmon that scout camp was lots of fun! Yeah! It seemed like a warm week ... but we are so glad you had fun! (Imagine a few other of our friends were there as well!) Patrick is also swimming for Fallston Fins with Rori, EmmaR, and Kristen ... I swam on swim team through middle school and LOVED it! Hope you are enjoying yourself! Send me some dates, times and locations so I can come see a meet!
It sounds as if EmmaR, Kristen, Rori and Rachel had a fabulous time in New York City and the American Doll Musuem! KyleK has been spending a lot of time at the farm (checking out those horses) and Julia had a great time in Ocean City (even went to Frontier Town).
Kristen and Patrick have been reading! Kristen read some of American Doll series, as well as Pippi Longstocking and some books on CD (to read along with). Patrick recommends Tales from the House of Bunnicula-Howie Monroe and the Doghouse of Doom and
The Invention of Hugo Cabret By Brian Selznick. Nathan and I are headed to the library today to get the Bunnicula book!
WOW, you all have been very, very busy! Thanks so much for keeping us up to date! I am certain we will see you around the library (the Roberts are reading Gironimo Stilton and the Chandlers are still reading Matt Christopher, although we have moved from soccer to baseball.) We have also been hitting the family film festival at Regal Theater. Last week, we saw the Bee Movie (and laughed!) and this week we hope to see Shrek the Third. The movies are Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00am (although you have to get there early). Check the Regal website for more info!
Keep enjoying your summer ... and send us more emails as we love hearing from you!!

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and YOU WILL REACH YOUR GOALS
I think I can ... I KNOW I CAN!!
Week of June 23, 2008
Good Morning Great Gators!
WOW! Can you believe we are already in our 2nd week of summer? The time has already gone so fast for us as we have been very busy!
Mrs. Roberts and Ms. Chandler packed their rooms to be moved on Friday! Well, let's just say, Mrs. Roberts finished Friday ... Ms. Chandler may have needed extra time (and some organizational help from her mom). The custodians nicely moved all our belongings to their new spots and we can begin setting up our classrooms at the end of July. Until then, we will be busy working from home, looking at the new math curriculum and comprehension toolkits!
You have probably seen the Robert's family around the pool and on the fields! They also celebrated Corey's (their oldest son's) graduation from Fallston High. The Chandler's spent their first week with Tonya's parents, with trips to the library, the park, shopping and of course, lots of cleaning. They also were seen on the 7-8 baseball fields where Ms. Chandler got to see Tommy, Andrew and Jack play ball - fun!
We started our journaling last week! It has been quite fun! We are trying to write daily about 1 activity or thought, with a poem, a short story or a conversation. Of course our paragraphs include a great hook, 4 detailed sentences, and a conclusion! It will be great to have a memory book to keep of the summer of 2008. We know many of you are illustrating yours as well ... we might try that, too!
We have joined the summer reading programs (through the Harford County Public Library, Barnes and Noble and www.scholastic.com. I have just finished my 4th book in a series called SOCCER CATS by Matt Christopher, that all of our soccer friends will enjoy. The books are about 1 team, but each book spotlights a different member of the team. The books and the chapters are short, there are full page pictures and the team has both boys and girls on it! If you are excited for soccer to start this series, of 11 books, might be the right ones for you! You can find them in the fiction section of the library under Christopher.
We have been on www.emgames.com "fine-tuning" our math skills for about 15 minutes a day. Of course, while on the computer, we are visiting our Webkinz and are taking care of them.
Don't forget to email Ms. Chandler with your summer book recommendations for friends of both classes. Also catch us up on what you did the first week of summer with a brief paragraph! We will post your emails on www.schoolnotes.com.
Read, read, read! Have a book club with friends or someone in your family and share and discuss the books together! Talk about your reading with anyone! Remember … what part of your body should be the most active when you are reading? You’re correct — the brain!
We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you around town! Hope you have had a FANTASTIC start to your summer!!
