Mrs. Warner's pull-out classes:
The theme this year is HOLLYWOOD! So, I am looking forward to working with and helping develop star students! In our class we all have to work together to have a successful production(school year). Therefore, the following are our roles in HOLLYWOOD.
DIRECTOR: Mrs. Warner
ASSISTANT DIRECTORS: Mrs. Paradis, Mrs. Klapaska, Mrs. Carroll
AGENTS: Parents
CAST: Students
CLS:
This year, the students in my pull-out classes will participate in something called CLS, which stands for Classroom Learning System. In this system, the students are taught how to set goals, track progress on the goals, achieve those goals, and then celebrate! This process is very data driven. Therefore, each student will have a data binder to keep track of their progress. The students will also be doing a lot of reflection. As a class, we are going to support and encourage each other to reach our goals. We will start off setting classroom goals. It is my hope that by the 3rd quarter, we will be able to start setting some of our own personal goals in the classroom. You may see a PDSA (Plan Do Study Act) sheet come home asking for your signature so that you can see the goals we are working towards.

Completion of your math homework will earn you money on our Homework Monopoly board!
Writing:
(September 2 - 5, 2008)
The students are listening to different literature books and identifying ways that the author effectively brought us into the book. The students are reading as writers and identifying writer's crafts that they can use to improve our writing.
This week's books include:
Come On, Rain! by: Karen Hesse
Canoe Days by: Gary Paulsen

4. scratch
5. stretch
6. itch

9. pitcher
10. kitchen

*The students with modified lists within the classroom will only be responsible for knowing the first 12 words and completing all the homework. These words were given to them in the general education classroom. Please see their list for the words.
Study/Organization Tips:
>
*Color Code your notebook, highlighters, folders, sticky
notes, etc. for each class. You might want to use everything orange for math, yellow for reading, blue for spelling, etc. Then make sure you know which color stands for which subject. It will be easier for you to gather your needed materials by color!
* Take a few minutes each night to review your notes/ what you learned that day! This will help improve your memory and you probably won't have to study as long when it is time for a quiz or test!
Thank you all for your interest and support. I look forward to a successful school year!
Best Wishes!
~ Mrs. Warner
