It's the holiday season, and we've planned lots of fun art activities!
Here are the current highlights:
Kindergarten: Students have been creating huge paper ornaments. They have utilized their cutting and drawing skills along with applying a dash of glitter!
Second Grade: Second graders are creating peppermint candies. To do this they practiced drawing and cutting a spiral using their fine motor skills. The peppermints will be wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbons. It is definitely a "sweet" project!
Third Grade: Using Alexander Calder's work as an exemplar, the students are learning how to make a mobile. We are using seasonal objects to create our mobiles. Ask your child the difference between a mobile and a stabile.
Fifth Grade: Coinciding with the Native American Unit in Social Studies, students are finishing their paper mache Kachina dolls. We have almost completed the final layering and many students have applied the undercoat of gesso. Ask your child what his/her plans are for finishing the Kachina.
ART NOTES:
**If you'd ever like to help out in the Art room, please let me know. There are various activities throughout the year when an "extra pair of hands" is quite welcome!
Have a joyous holiday with your families, my little elves!!
