We are into our Earth and Space unit and really enjoyed our trip to the Planeterium. We are learning about the world we live in, the Continents and Oceans, what earth is made of, landforms, and maps.
We continue to count in many ways, work with money, (which still gives some of us a hard time) and 2 and 3 D-shapes.
We are just about finished working with letters and will do some reviewing and work with blends; sh, ch, th. We started writing our opinions today and got off to a great start.
SPRING is in the air and in our voices. Let’s try to remind our children that we still have 30 days left. THANK YOU!
I will be selling hot dogs and pit beef at the bazaar on Sat. so stop by for lunch and visit me from 11:00 to 12:00. Mrs.Blum filled a jar with goodies so please be sure to stop by and make a good guess.

We have started our “construction unit” and it is a fun one. I hope your child has told you about the Drama Center being turned into a construction site. We are measuring and hammering and painting. What Fun!
We have explored 3-D shapes and the value of a nickel and penny. We are locating numbers from 1 to 100 on a number grid.
Career Day was great. I hope you heard about all the careers we learned about. It was fun to hear what your children want to be when they grow up. I hope you saved those papers so you can show them to them as they go out into the world many years from now.
We are writing true stories at writing time and doing a terrific job. Please remember to review the reading and spelling of our many sight words. This weeks words are: had and has. Next week: one and not. They are so proud when they are able to read their stories. Please encourage your child to read to me to earn their stars on the reading tree.
Happy Easter and have a safe spring break!
Dear Parents,
We are into our “Wellness” unit. We will be talking about ways to stay healthy, exercise, safety, friends and feelings.
In math we are measuring and using calculators (what fun). We will continue to count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and add and subtract as we listen to number stories.
We are working on writing stories with characters, a setting and 2 events. We are concentrating on stretch spelling across the word (writing all the sounds we hear in a word). Sight words for Feb. are: can, they, you, did, I, this, get, little, he, and help. Please continue to review all words. The children should be able to read them and use them in their writing.
A very special thank you to Taryn’s aunt, she made us our beanbags and we are having lots of fun with them especially when it is too cold to go outside for exercise.

Dear Parents,
We have one week left for our Main Street unit. We have done some really cool stuff. The trip to the Museum of Industry started us off and we have continued with things we learned there. We have traded for things, bought things, talked about saving and earning, goods and services and wants and needs. As you can see we have been very busy.
In math we are still counting as high as we can go, by 2’s, by 5’s, and by 10’s. We’ve continued to graph and worked on some simple addition and subtraction.
We are full swing into “stretch spelling”. Please do not write in the children’s Pictionaries or tell them what to write. They should be stretch spelling.

Thanks to all who sent in items for our “winter celebration”. It was lots of fun. Mrs. Blum planned a great craft for the children. I hope all the snowmen made it home okay.
Please enjoy your holiday with your loved ones and I will see you all next year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
