The Billion Dollar binder is due this Wednesday.
This is a test grade (100 points), so be sure you have it completed. For each day it is late, you drop a letter grade.
The purposes for this project are many. First, to give students an idea of the vastness of a billion, and to teach them the value of money. It also forces them to keep a log of purchases, much like a checkbook, which prepares them for keeping track of finances. They also learn how to research information on the internet, and since they must reference each purchase they make, they are learning to keep a sort of bibliography. Finally, when they are done purchasing, there is a percentage sheet which must be completed.

Syllabus for all classes, abbreviated version (students have been given a copy of the full version to bring home to yoou for your signature):
We will work mostly in groups using Cooperative Learning methods, Multiple Intelligences, and Learning Styles in conjunction with the curriculum. This will offer students a variety of methods for learning the necessary concepts for completing this course.
Students need to be serious about their performance, attendance, and behavior. They will be involved in designing their own classroom rules and earning class & individual points towards rewards ranging from computer time to class celebrations.
Grades are calculated by weighting grades on the following scale:
Completed homework 10%
Warm-ups (drills)/EOLAS (end of period checks) 15%
Independent Work 10%
Quizzes 25%
Chapter Assessments & Final 15%
Classwork 25%
Computerized grade reports will be sent home every three weeks and must be returned with a parent signature no later than two days from the day they go home.
