The end of the school year is approaching fast! Students are finishing their study of Africa and will be ready for a Unit Test on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3. Students will receive a study guide to be completed for homework to help them prepare for the test.

All students have finished their research days in the media center for their Africa Research Project. Students were given guidelines on how to write the final paper using their research on one country in Africa. The final paper is due TUESDAY, MAY 19, and may be typed or neatly hand-written. Students are finishing their study of forces that unit and divide Europe. The Europe Unit Test is on MONDAY, MAY 4. All students received a study guide review packet in class today. Students are to complete the first four sections for homework tonight, and the remaining three sections for homework tomorrow night. The next unit of study is Africa, and late next week students will be in the media center completing their Africa Research Project. Thank you for your support at home.

Just a reminder students will complete their first Europe Quiz tomorrow. Students should study the Class Notes section of their notebook to review for the quiz. There is also a homework assignment for students to review eight countries in Europe for the map section of the quiz. Thank you for your support at home.

All students were given their Western Hemisphere Study Guide Review packet today in class. Students were assigned the first three sections to complete for homework tonight. The Unit Test is on TUESDAY, MARCH 31. Tomorrow students will be assigned the next two sections on Canada and Mexico, and then on Monday students will be assigned the last two sections for homework. Reviewing a little bit each night will help your student be prepared for the test on Tuesday!

Students are finishing their study of Canada in class. Tomorrow, students will complete a Canada Map Quiz, identifying the location of the provinces, territories, and major bodies of water. Students were also given their Quebec Response Paper assignment. The assignment guidelines are on a pink sheet of notebook paper. The Response Paper needs to be four paragraphs written according to the guidelines, and is due MONDAY, MARCH 16. All students were given time in class yesterday and today to work on the paper. The final copy needs to be completed at home, and may be typed or neatly handwritten. Thank you for your support.

Students were given time in class to work on the rough copy of their map projects. The date for the final copy has been moved to THURS., FEBRUARY 19. The rest of the map project should now be completed at home. The Unit Test is on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17. All students were given a study guide to help them prepare for the test. Each class has set a goal that we are working hard to achieve. Thank you for your help at home.

Today in class, all students received the project guidelines for their map project. The guidelines are on a pink sheet of paper, and the project is worth one summative grade. The project is due WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18. We are also looking to take our first Unit Test sometime next week. Thank you again for the parent responses...it is not too late to still send them in!

Thank you so much for such a positive response to the parent assignment, "In a Million Words or Less." I have really enjoyed learning more about each student. Students had a notebook check today to help them stay organized in class. Students will have a quiz on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6. The quiz covers vocabulary terms and how to find the exact location of any place on earth.

Welcome to 7th grade social studies!! All students were given a Course Syllabus and Expectations Sheet in class today. There is a place for a parent's signature on the Expectations sheet. Students also received a parent letter called, "In a Million Words or Less," giving parents an opportunity to tell me more about your chid. I am looking forward to getting to know your son or daughter more in social studies.
