GRADES HAVE BEEN UPDATED ON GO SYSTEM...Some are not looking too good so you may be receiving an email or phone call from me offering an after school help session.  Last marking period I send slips home with students which I am presuming did not make it home.  The school year is winding down but student effort and output need to stay wound up until the last day.

Most students appear to have become lax about completing weekly Current Events so the assignment is changing.  They will receive a ditto on Tuesday and directions will be given as well as attached to the ditto.  They have to locate 4 articles from the newspaper, weekly magazine (i.e., Newsweek), or the internet.  Read the articles, fill out the ditto, staple the articles to the ditto, and return on Friday.  After I have graded the assignment I will place it in their composition books in class.  We will no longer be sharing out on Fridays because too few students were following directions and recording information.  Those that have been completing the assignment should notice no major changes to their weekly routine since they have developed good habitats for completing the assignment.  Those that missed 3 or more in the last 5 weeks will be asked to join me for a detention (either during or after school).
In addition, the most recent notebook check for the majority of students was very bad.  The grade for this notebook check can be found on their UNIT ORGANIZERS for UNIT 2.  On several seperate days students were given time at the beginning or end of class to copy the Table of Contents and organize their notebooks.  They are to keep all materials/dittos & hand-outs/graded work in their notebooks.  They are not to dispose of any materials until the end of the semester.  Any material they take home to study with should be placed back in their notebooks.
