Thank you for helping with the How-To articles. They have a been a big help with the lesson and enjoyable to read.
We did not start a new reading story this week because of Monday's Reconciliation. We have used this time to discuss and get ready for Advent. So our only test will be Spelling.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Now welcome to Advent! We had a prayer service in church today then went to Reconciliation.
We are going to learn how to write a How-to Article. For practice today the students wrote, "How To Cook A Turkey." After hearing some of them I gently told them I would NOT be eating their turkeys! A How-To can be a recipe or directions for doing something. They have until Wednesday to bring one in.

Boys-Cub Scout sign-up Thurs, Sept. 11, 6:30pm in cafeteria.
It was wonderful to meet the parents of my third graders last night. Now I know why they are so nice! Thanks for the kind welcome and all the good wishes. I wish it were cooler for you.
And if your children come home and tell you that I read "The Night Before Christmas," and The Missing Mitten Mystery," believe them. We were trying to stay cool.
There is no homework this weekend but do remember your child may have books to cover. The larger books need the bigger book socks. I offered the paper book covers again but had no takers.
If the weather is still warm next week they are allowed to wear their gym uniform again.
They will be eating in the cafeteria next week!
A Student Computer Access Contract is coming home today. It needs to be signed and returned before your child can access the internet. Please check your child's daily folder each day for important papers.
Also, I understand not everyone has been able to find the larger book socks. Whenever you are able to find them send them in and I'll make sure the books get covered.
Thank you for sending in food for ICS OutReach. It is very generous of you. Food can still be sent in tomorrow.
REMINDER-Wednesday Special is Phys. Ed.
No school tomorrow.
School resumes on Tuesday, September 2.
Our Outreach is in need, especially for peanut butter, jelly, soup, and macaroni and cheese. If you can send in a can or jar with your child when they return to school it would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance and God Bless You.
Have fun this weekend and be safe!
It was a wonderful first two days for third grade. They have already begun to work hard on their lessons. They are a very nice class and seem to get along well together.
Just a reminder that since there is no access to the cafeteria the children need to pack their lunch with everything they need, including forks, spoons, snacks, and drinks, until further notice.
Also, our Special on Wednesday is Physical Education.
Students should come to school in their Phys. Ed. uniforms and sneakers.
Homework has continued to be to cover their books.
The summer has just flown by. I hope you are just as excited as I am to start a new year. Don't forget to bring your supplies and your summer reading activity. You may also bring a snack and a water bottle since the cafeteria is off limits until September 9.
I can't wait to meet all of you. I hope you are enjoying what's left of the summer. And if you noticed the reading list for third grade was actually for the fourth grade, not to worry. I just hope you read something from either list and will be prepared to share with the class. Choose one of following ways in which to share your favorite book:
Make a diorama
Design a bookmark
Draw your favorite scene from the book
Write a book report
See you soon,
Mrs. Lena Kumpel

In preparation for a great start to 4th grade, our students are strongly encouraged to practice the basic math facts for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Just a few minutes of review each day will help them master those skills. Flash cards are a great help. Also, there are numerous appropriate and fun internet sites, which will help them practice the skills gained this year.

All students entering 4th grade must complete the following summer reading assignment.
1) Read Stuart Little by E.B. White. Students will be tested on this book during the first days of the school year.
