Welcome to Geometry and Measurement
Mrs. Lampkin and Mr. Stroups Grading Policy and Classroom Expectations
Material Requirements:
Each student must bring the following to class each day:
calculator, pencil, paper, graph paper, compass, protractor, ruler, math notebook and math textbook.
Make-up Work:
Immediately upon the day of his/her return, it is the students responsibility to check the homework board. According to the Cecil County Public School grading policy, students have two days for every excused day they were absent to make-up work. If a student absence is unexcused the make-up work will drop one letter grade. After an extended excused absence, it is the students responsibility to see me on the day of his/her return so we can set a mutually agreed-upon time to complete the missing work.
Assessment:
Formative Assessment, will count as 25% of the marking period grade.
Homework/Classwork:
Homework will be given and checked on a daily basis.
Homework/classwork is due on the date assigned. Any late classwork will receive a 10% penalty for each day that it is late.
Students will be assigned an after school detention for third incomplete homework assignment.
Every ten homework assignments will count as a quiz grade.
Homework is posted on www.schoolnotes.com.
Summative Assessment, which will count as 75% of the marking period grade.
Test/Quizzes:
Students will be advised approximately one week in advance of an upcoming test.
Each test will have a weight of 3.
Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
Each quiz will have a weight or 2.
Assessment Retakes
Students will have the opportunity to retake any of the Unit Assessments. The retakes will be a different form of the test with similar problems. The following criteria have to be met in order for the student to be allowed to retake the test:
Must have 80% average on all formative assessments for the unit (homework, classwork, etc.)
Must show evidence of studying for the assessment (study guide, after school help, etc.).
It is the student's responsibility to make arrangement for the retake within one week after the unit assessment has been passed back. The retakes cannot be done during class time.

Expectations:
Follow directions the first time.
Raise your hand to speak or to leave your seat.
During instructional time, no one is allowed to talk.
When the bell rings, all students are expected to be in their assigned seats and remain there until I have dismissed the class.
Treat equipment/calculators with care. You are responsible for any equipment/calculator assigned to you.
Respect your teacher, your classmates and yourself.
Consequences:
First time: Warning
Second time: After school detention
Third time: Written office referral
Severe disruption: Student sent immediately to the office
*The students consequence will depend upon the severity of his/her behavior
