2 -- complete biography unit; introduction to various reference sources; dictionary practice; finish Secondhand Star
3 -- examination of special parts of some books: table of contents, glossary, index, and appendix; state research; finish James and the Giant Peach
4 -- review subject arrangement of non-fiction books and use of call number; review/discuss elements found in curriculum monitoring sheets
5 –- complete world geography simulation Caravans; participate in Internet geography activity GeoGame (the purpose of GeoGame is to learn geography terms, to read and interpret maps, and to increase awareness of geographical and cultural diversity)
6 -- continue unit on various reference sources using abstract nouns (4th quarter focus is on access to magazines and newspapers)
7 -- review various reference sources; review/discuss elements in curriculum monitoring sheets
8 -- Shakespeare research and play prep
I am available to students needing bibliographic, research, or other assistance during the school day, and at other mutually-agreed upon times, when requested.
I also monitor a daily study hall during lunch/recess for grades 6-8 and for grades 3-5 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
