Final homework assignment sheet given out on odd day (May 1) and even day (May 2).  If sheet is lost, homework assignments are on the site calendar.

No student should type a final research paper until he/she has received his/her corrected first draft back from me.

FOR ALL CLASSES:

WORDS NOT ALLOWED IN A RESEARCH PAPER: unless used in a direct quote

  • first person pronouns (I, me, we, us, my, mine, our, myself, ourselves)
  • a lot
  • contractions
  • slang/colloqualisms
  • cliches
  • you- remember to use another type of reference.  Use person, individual, one, etc.
  • abbreviations

Using the above will cause a loss of a point for each infraction.

PPRESEARCH PAPERSPP 

STUDENTS RECEIVED ASSIGNMENT SHEETS BEFORE SPRING BREAK.  SEE SITE CALENDAR FOR DUE DATES.

All students will be using MLA format in order to complete a research paper.  English 12 will complete a position paper while Honors English 12 will complete a British literature themed paper.  Each student will receive a copy of assignment due dates and needed supplies.  As with all due dates, no assignments will be accepted late.

English 12: Topic: Position Paper

English 12 classes are writing position papers.  Students are to select a topic that interests them.  But, students are to remember that it must be a topic about which they can take a side.  They are to prove that their side is correct.  In order to do so, both sides must be researched.

For all classes:

  • 1 one inch (or larger) three-ringed binder
  • blue or black pens
  • loose leaf paper
  • three-ringed notebook dividers
  • 3.5 disk/CD-RW/or Jump drive removable disk
  • 8.5" x 11" computer paper (for home)
  • for research paper: teacher-given envelope for turning in research material
  • for research paper: see research paper supplies material
