Mrs. Webb currently is a co-teacher, or inclusion English teacher, assigned to two grade 6 English classes. She also teaches her own small, pull-out bell for English, grade 6. After teaching English and math at the seventh grade level for 14 years, this year she was asked by her principal, Dr. Smith, to teach grade 6 English. She has enjoyed the change very much this year! Sixth grade students are a joy to teach!
Mrs. Webb attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina for her Bachelor's degree in special education in the field of learning disabilities. She also has a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from The George Washington University. Her field of study centered on inclusion and instructional strategies for her Mater’s degree. She has taken numerous classes in differentiation and college credit classes in gifted education. Mrs. Webb continues to attend gifted inservices and takes other classes in core subject areas. She has presented at the annual Virginia Middle Schools Association Conference for 13 years in a row on a wide variety of topics.
She started teaching at the elementary level and transferred to the middle school level fourteen years ago and was lucky enough to get her job at Kempsville Middle School! Before that, she taught special education students at Kempsville Elementary School.
Past accolades have included being named school-wide Teacher of the Year for the year 2004-2005 and being selected as a Virginia Lifetime PTA Member in June 2005. Her resume includes teaching part-time in the summers for NASA and the FAA on the topics of aviation and aeronautics. She has also edited several grade levels of the elementary science curriculum guides when she taught at the elementary level. She is currently the secretary of the Virginia Beach Association of English Teachers, or VBATE.
She resides with her husband, Richard, and two ‘fur’ children, Yorkshire Terriers, Precious and Bridgette. Her parents, sister Amy, and niece Olivia live close by in the area.
