Here are some updates from the week of November 2nd-November 6th from Mrs. Charles class.
Important Dates:
November 9th- Amazement Square for 3rd Grade
November 17th- Early Release
November 25th-29th- Thanksgiving Break

Language Arts: In Language Arts this week we did work with sequencing events in a story and we did some work with homophones in our word work time.  Some students started reading new books in their book groups as well.  Next week we will be discussing and reading fairy tales.  We may also begin drafting one as well!

Math:  This week we have been working extremely hard on multiplication!  The students each are working on completing their chart to demonstrate their mastery for their facts.  We went to the computer lab twice this week to practice and play review games.  We will be testing over multiplication on Monday.  I have been very pleased with the students’ progress; I can tell they have been practicing at home!

Science:  In Science we did more review today and this past week over animal and plant adaptations.  I had originally planned a quiz for today but I decided to have it on Monday.  We went to the computer lab today and did a smartboard review game for extra practice so we will be well prepared for Monday.  Our next unit of study will be the food chain.

Social Studies: We are still working on Economics in Social Studies.  This week we learned about shortage and scarcity and continued to talk about economic choice and opportunity cost.  We will finish this unit up next week and take a quiz over it later next week.

Star of the Week:
Emma was our Star of the week student!  Thank you Emma for sharing pictures and items brought from home.  Emma brought in some adorable pictures of her pets that the students loved!  She also brought in the book If You Gave a Pig a Pancake, which is one of my favorite books! Our next star of the week is Morgan!

Extra:

•    We are nearly out of Clorox Bleach wipes!  I try to clean the room as much as I can to help keep out those unwanted germs!  I would love some extra wipes anytime you think of it!  The more I clean the room, the fewer germs your child will come in contact with!
•    I am running low on extra snack!  If you would please send in some donated snack for our class we would greatly appreciate it!  Remember if you forget to send in a snack with your child I always provide one for them.

Thank you for reading our weekly letter and participating in your child’s education!    Enjoy the sunshine outside this weekend; it’s going to be beautiful!

Thank you,

Mrs. Charles
