Students will complete grammar reviews/practice
activities as assigned.
Students are responsible for correctly spelling and defining the words for Clashes of Culture word wall.
Students will read from textbook:
"No Witchcraft For Sale," pp. 1114-1122;
"The Train from Rhodesia," pp. 1248-1255;
"A Devoted Son," pp.1270-1282.
We will discuss the stories and the cultural clash(es) of each, and work on oral and written activities.
Students will work in groups on a mini-research project on the dining manners of different cultures. Each group will present findings to class.
Students will participate in a cultural etiquette game, a charades game of cultural accepted and non-accepted behavior.
Once we have read and discussed the short stories, we will view the movie "Remember the Titans," and discuss the cultural clashe(es) between and among characters.
Students will be assessed on culture clashes unit Fri., May 9th.
Reminder to students: Resumes are to be completed and handed in to Mrs. Vaden on May 5th.
Job interview training will be scheduled for Wed., May 7th (both blocks) and Tues., May 13th (2nd block only).
Students will participate in the mock interviews Wed.,May 14th, both blocks. Students are to dress appropriately for their interviews.
The mock job interview is the final assignment of the NRCC employment preparedness class. Students will receive a New River Community College grade for the course as well as an English 12 grade.
NOTE: Students who are absent on days Mrs. Vaden visits are responsible for contacting Mrs. Vaden and completing any assignments from missed employment preparedness class(es).
Weeks of May 12-16, 19-23, students will study the Eugene O'Neil play, Anna Christie.
The last week of May will be used for make-up work and review.

STAFFERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR PAGE ASSIGNMENT PICTURES.
yearbook staffers who cannot be in class can work on page assignments at home, on line. There is no excuse for missed page deadlines.
