Welcome to your class web page. If ever you have any questions about anything on this page or not on this page, please let me know by sending me an e-mail aliciajohnson@gilesk12.org or calling the school during my planning period 2:25-3:15.
We are currently studying:
Students are beginning a new Unit. In the "Treasured Memories" Unit, students will be studying biographies, autobiographies, anecdotes and memoirs. Students will be writing a 26 paragraph autobiography between now and November 20th. I have attached the information to this site in an MS Word file. Students will be given one class per week to work on this assignment - any remaining time must be done outside the class. This assignment not only helps students to understand the autobiographical process, but also gives them a lot of writing practice before their writing SOL test in March.
Our "Grammar Friday" classes will continue throughout the year to help students gain a better understanding of grammar and its proper uses and to help them become better communicators of the English language.
Students did very well on the Media Unit. I am enjoying getting to know each of them and having them in my class.
Next Tuesday the 13th we will be going to the library. We will go to the library every 2 weeks as much as possible for the students to have some quiet, sustained reading time and to allow a habit of checking in and checking out library books.
Our next quiz/test/Assessment will be:
Wednesday, Oct 14 - small vocabulary Quiz -
Any Homework Assignments are:
Students should complete paragraphs by due date that they are not able to finish in class.
Review new vocabulary terms.
