8TH GRADE ENGLISH

Welcome to your class web page.  If ever you have any questions about anything on this page or not on this page, please let me know by sending me an e-mail aliciajohnson@gilesk12.org or calling the school during my planning period 1:40-2:20.

We are currently finishing SOL's, moving out of Mystery/Detective genre and briefly into the Horror genre.  Next week students will work in groups created a short horror story with a focus on all the literary elements we have been studying this year such as plot, setting, character and using descriptive language. This work will all be done in class.

**IF YOU NOTICE ANY SCHOOL BOOKS AT HOME, WE ARE CHECKING IN ALL LITERATURE, GRAMMAR, LIBRARY AND BORROWED BOOKS NOW.

Our next quiz/test/Assessment will be:

       FINAL EXAM - for those who did not pass the reading SOL will be June 8th for 5th period, June 9th for 1st, 4th and 6th period, June 10th for 2nd period and June 11 for 3rd period.

       We will be reviewing the week of June 1st.

11TH GRADE ENGLISH

We are leaving Romanticism and looking briefly at Realism, Cultural details of the 20's and we will finish the year debating some national issues using the persuasive and rhetorical language we have studied this year.

Our next quiz/test will be:
