EARTH SCIENCE Classes
Watch the weather forecasts for information during the winter season. Find out if the very dry conditions that we are presently experiencing in the New River Valley and throughout the Southeast may improve in the near future. Are patterns beginning to change and what type of precipitation might we experience? Will this be another mild winter season? Will much needed moisture help Mountain Lake?
Independent Study?
Did you hear about the recent earthquake (Sept. 14) in Indonesia? It measured 8.4on the Richter Scale! Were you aware that we live in an earthquake zone right here in Giles County? Our largest quake occurred on May 31, 1897 and measured 5.9 on the Richter. Please research additional information on this topic at your leisure!
EARTHQUAKE IN GILES????????
Reports of an earthquake in Eastern Giles County on Jan. 24, 2007 did not register on seismic equipment at VA Tech. Instead, a small meteroite about the size of a grapefruit was credited for causing a sonic boom. For more information, visit "beyond the forecast" on www.wdbj7.com as reported by Brent Watts.
