2nd and 7th Periods - 9th Grade

Objective:  

9.6 The student will develop narrative, expository, and information writings to inorm, explain, analyze, or entertain.

9.7 The student will edit writing for correct grammar, coapitalizations, punctuation, spelling, sentnece structure, and paragraphing.

9.8 The student will credit the sources of both quoted and paraphrased ideas.

9.9 The student will use print, electronic databases, and online resources to access information.

Project/Activities:  

1. Students are working on a persuasive essay. Most work will be done in class. However, if a student misses class due to illness or a sport, they are required to do the makeup work at home.

2.  Rough draft of Essays will be due Wednesday, May 14, 2008.  

6th Period - 9th Grade CP

Objectives:  All of the above noted 9th grade objectives until May 5.  

9.1 The student will plan, present, and critique dramatic readings of literary selections.

9.3 The student will read and analyze a variety of literature.

Project/Activities

1.  Students are reading and writing poetry. All poetry study and writing will be done during class time. However, poetry portfolio will be designed for homework. This project is due May 9, 2008.

2.  Students Persuasive Research Essays due: Monday, May 5, 2008.

3.  Students will read and act out several acts of Romeo and Juliet.

Poetry Books:  Due Monday, May 12, 2008

4th and 5th Periods - 10th Grade CP

Objectives:  

10.1 The student will participate in and report on small-group learning activities.  
10.3  The student will read, comprehend, and critique literary works.
10.5  The student will read and analyze a variety of poetry.
10.6  The student will read and critique dramatic selections.

Projects/Activities:

1.  Students are reading and writing poetry.  All poetry study and writing will be done during clas time. However, poetry portfolio will be designed for homework.  This project is due May 12, 2008.  

2.  Students are reading and analyzing Sophocles "Antigone." All students will have a chance to act in at least one Act.  

The following will be done at home for homework:

1.  Pre-reading their part for the next day.
2.  Vocabulary study.
3.  Answers to Questions.
4.  Assessment will be taken after each act about once a week.
