                   Math 8:
Plans for the month of May 2008

Each day up through the Math SOLs (May 20th) you can expect the following routine/schedule:

Monday - Thursday:
Students will take & review notes referencing those skills covered on the 8th grade mathematics SOL. They will also complete worksheets practicing those skills we are reviewing. Each worksheet is due the following day. Notes are graded every Thursday for a large notebook grade.

Tuesdays & Thursdays are always homework days. Students will recieve an extra worksheet to complete at home on these days.

Fridays are test days. Students will take a test practicing their SOL skills they've been working on for the week. After the test, they will either have an activity or a worksheet to further drill the skills necessary to be successful on the 8th grade mathematics SOL.

        Basic Skills 8 & 9/10 (Periods 1 & 7)

All students are expected to carry a planner to each of their classes and record all assignments. In the case that there are no assignments, they are to record "none" next to that subject. Each day's record should look like the example below:

English: Read Book for Book Report
Math: wkbk p.19
History: None
Science: None

Each 6 week's grade is comprised of the following:
1) Completion of Planner (50% of grade)
2) Algebra Warmups (done in class each day)
3) Participation Points (4 possible each day)
4) Skill Worksheets (6 due each 6 weeks)

Students should use their class time to finish any work from their academic classes. Assistance is provided for anything they are having difficulty with. When they do not have any outside work to complete, they must either read a book or work on one of the skill worksheets.
