Literature books to class

*******************************************************

English 11CP

News article for Monday--English 11 focus is reading for comprehension as well as being able to summarize and paraphrase. Students are required to read a newspaper or news magazine on a routine basis(3-5 times/week) and to bring an article to class each Monday for a 15 point grade. Students should initially look for articles pertaining to literature and/or language but in the absence of these topics, articles about trends in education or the learning process will be acceptable. Students will report orally on one article per grading period for a 10 point grade so that over the course of a grading period these articles and the oral report will be equal to a 100 point grade. Newspapers and news magazines are available for student use in the school library as well as personal copies of The Roanoke Times being provided free of charge to students in the cafeteria on Wednesdays.

Students have been assigned a novel to be reading.

Spring research project should be in progress.

Oral presentations due June 3

Research essay due June 5
