HOMEWORK-ANY HOMEWORK WILL BE LISTED ON YOUR CHILD'S ASSIGNMENT SHEET LOCATED AS THE FRONT PAGE IN HIS/HER BINDER. Please check your child's bookbag each evening for any important papers from school as well as looking at your child's assignment sheet that will be given out each Monday. This sheet will let you know of any homework, upcoming tests, or special events.

Typically your child's homework assignment will be:
Monday-Write Spelling Words 3x each & Test each Friday.
Wednesday-Spelling Menu Item of choice
Thursday-Be ready for Spelling Test on Friday-ALL WORDS IN CURSIVE.

Additionally:
*It is helpful if your child will review any Social Studies and/or Science notes for 10 minutes each evening. This will allow your child to participate in all classroom discussions and be familiar with all material prior to any graded paper and/or quiz or test. Students should do this on a regular basis even if this is not on assignment sheet.

PLANS BELOW ARE FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 5-9TH:

READING-Our story for this week is "Leah's Pony". Skill lesson will focus on "plot". Vocabulary words for this story are found in reading textbook along with the Spelling words for the week which are located at the back of the text. Each week your child will receive a grade for vocabulary and comprehension from the story. Your child is welcome to bring his/her text book home each evening as long as it is returned for use in class the next day.

SPELLING-ALL SPELLING WORDS ARE NOW IN CURSIVE. Focus  this week are words with /w/ or /wh/. Your child will have a Spelling Test each Friday. A word list will be given out each Monday to students to be kept in their binder to use at home to study during the week. A list of words can also be found in the back of your child's reading book if needed. Your child will sometimes have 1-2 dictation sentences on their test.

GRAMMAR-Many concepts will be reviewed. Students will learn about "conjunctions" (words such as and, but, or).

SOCIAL STUDIES-Mrs. Nester is finishing the SOL workbook, continuing to review SOL's in Social Studies, and beginning chapter 6. Look for information coming home soon about a fun project.

SCIENCE-We are reviewing Science SOL's in a fun way and doing several fun experiments.

MATH-We are continuing to learn more about fractions & decimals in Chapter 27. Students need to continue to review multiplication and division facts. Flashcards are great to use as well as many of our websites such as Math Magician.
