Dear Parents,
We are in Chapter 5 Creating the Constitution. On
Monday I gave the students several home assignments
to begin working on.
1. Memorize the Preamble
The students have a copy of the Preamble and need
to memorize this for the test. We will practice in class, but many students will need to study at home also.
2. Memorize the 7 Articles of the Constitution
Use this mnemonic sentence:
Lee Article 1 Legislative Branch
Edward Article 11 Executive Branch
Jones Article III Judicial Branch
Says Article IV The States
American Article V Amending the Constitution
Supremacy Article VI Constitution is Supreme
Rocks Article VII Ratification
(The students need to understand what each article
is about.)
3. Extra Credit -
The students were given a Preamble Worksheet on
Monday. Using a thesaurus, they need to find 2
synonyms for certain words listed from the
Preamble. At the bottom of the page they are to
rewrite the Preamble using their new words.
This Extra Credit Assignment is due Tuesday,
November 24 and is worth 100 points.
4. Extra Credit -
The students were given a hand-out on creating
a Photo Story presentation on the Preamble. This
Extra Credit Assignment is due Tuesday, November
24 and is worth 100 points.
The students are encouraged to begin studying now
for the test. As you can see, they have a lot to
memorize and should not wait until the last minute
to prepare for the test.
Assuming responsibility for their work is an
issue at this time for many students and it will
be reflected in grades for the second six weeks.
Please encourage your child to begin studying for
the Chapter 5 Test early.
I plan to give the Chapter 5 Test on Tuesday, November 24th.
