The Acorn is the high school newspaper. It is a class where each student receives a credit but it is not a journalism class. The staff produces an eight-page paper approximately every six weeks. They do everything from selling ads, interviewing, writing articles, taking pictures to laying out the paper using PageMaker 7.0 and Photoshop. The layouts for the issues are sent electronically to J&S Printing in Birmingham, Alabama for printing; the copies are returned one to two days later for distribution on a Friday.
