7th Grade Keyboarding
Semester 1-2008-2009
Mrs. Shifflett

The 7th grade keyboarding students from Dalton Intermediate School meet in Room 23 at Radford High School.

The standard for this course is to introduce students to skills necessary for keying in information. Students will learn to touch type using the alphabetic, numeric and symbol keys on the keyboard. Students will continue to develop speed and accuracy and demonstrate understanding of basic keying techniques; they will also learn the most common document formatting techniques.

Students will use the Microtype 4 program to learn the letters and numbers; problems will come from Century 21: Computer Keyboarding.

Grades will include a technique grade (subjective), timed writings, quizzes and problem grades.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE SEPTEMBER 8; I WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON SEPTEMBER 10 WHEN DALTON INTERMEDIATE HAS OPEN HOUSE. You may contact me through schoolnotes or call the school if you desire.

Week of September 8-12, 2008
The students will continue using Microtype4; many of the students completed six lessons and about five completed nine or ten.

ENCOURAGE THEM TO BE PATIENT AND WORK TO LEARN THE SKILL OF TOUCH KEYING BY REPETITION
