Mrs. Shull's Class

We have finalized 11:45 on Friday, May 23rd for our Spring Program.

Important Dates:
May 23rd  Mrs. Shull's and Mrs. Patterson's Classes Spring Program
May 29th  Spring Fun Day
May 30th  Last day of School (2hr. early release)
The children have been practicing and are excited to perform for you!  Please enter through the side door of the Art and Music room located to the left of the main entrance.

The year is almost over.  During the last few weeks, we will be completing the PALS Assessment, and final reading records.  There will be little reading homework coming, but please continue to read nightly with your child.

We are currently studying geography, SOL 1.4:
The student will develop map skills by
a)    recognizing basic map symbols, including references to land, water, cities, and roads;
b)    using cardinal directions on maps;
c)    identifying the physical shape of the United States and Virginia on maps and globes;
d)    locating Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States, and Richmond, the capital of Virginia, on a United States map.

SOL 1.5
The student will construct a simple map of a familiar area, using basic map symbols in the map legend.

SOL 1.6

The student will describe how location, climate, and physical surroundings affect the way people live, including their food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and recreation.

As you can see, there is a lot of information to cover and we will be looking at this over the next couple of weeks!

In Math this week, we will be working on capacity and volume.

Our spelling words are as follows:
how
now
town
pull
paper
brown
down
clown
goes
seven

Enjoy your week!
Mrs. Shull
