We will be leaving for the Biltmore on May 20th at 7:30 in the morning. Please be here anytime from 7:15 on as the bus will be pulling out at exactly 7:30. If we leave any later, we will lose our tour guide so we will be on time with our departure. If you do arrive late, please feel free to drive to Asheville yourself as we will have your ticket paid for so you may join up with us in North Carolina.
I will be sending home a list of items to bring for the day next week. Be sure to check those bookbags for updates.
We have begun our research report this month. Your child has chosen an animal to do their report on. They are to locate 4 or more resources from the library or internet to begin the note taking process. It will be done in class on index cards. They may also use pamphlets, periodicals, videos, and so on.
After sufficient notes have been taken, we will form an outline from those notes. We will use Roman Numerals for our main ideas and capital letters for our supporting details. The next task will be to transform the outline into a report of our own words for our final product. A rough copy will be written and proofread by the student and another adult before the final copy is completed.
The students will be given time during the day to work on this so I may give them the proper guidance. Occasionally, some of this assignment will need to be completed at home, but the majority of the work will be done at school.
Spring Fling was the best ever! Thanks to all of you who made it so awesome. The children enjoyed the day.
Our book report for the month of May is a free choice. Most students have had a book approved at this point and are just reading them before the end of the month.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful year of learning and growing with your child. I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey with your family and know that you will have a successful 5th grade year. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's education.
