Week of September 10, 2007
This week we will be learning the letter Bb with our Frog Street Press character Benjamin Bunny.  We will be reading, singing and doing other activities with the letter Bb. Our special project will be Bubble Painting. If you have any bubbles at home you would like to donate to our class we would appreciate it. In math we will be doing activities with circles and talking about the color red. At home look around your house for things that are red or things that are shaped like a circle.
Remember the School Picnic is Monday night, September 10th at 5:30. It is always a lot of fun for the kids and the parents. I hope to see you there!

Week of September 3, 2007
This week, due to it being a short week, we will continue our study of the letter Aa. Apple Annie will help us recognize the letter and learn lots of words that begin with Aa. The children really enjoy the "sing to read" songs. I hope you are hearing them sing around the house. We will be making our own version of the book "10 Apples Up On Top" and reading other apple books too. In math we will introduce our unifix cubes. We will also be using our "magic counting sticks" to touch and count bears. Each day we say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer. These would also be good to practice at home!

A few reminders:

No school Monday - It is Labor Day.

Please continue to send in supplies if you have not done so.

Please do not send sippy cups to school. We will gladly offer your child juice or water if they are thirsty.

I appreciate everyone being so punctual. It helps get our day off to a great start.

Thank you for sharing your child with me.

This week we will begin our alphabet study with the letter Aa.  Apple Annie will help us to recognize the letter and learn lots of words that begin with Aa.  We will be doing many activities with apples including an apple tasting party.  Our focus story will be Ten Apples Up On Top.  In math we will introduce our teddy bear manipulatives.  We use these to identify colors and sizes, sort, make patterns and to count.   We start everyday with prayer.  The children will pray spontaneously and formally.  We will begin learning the Lord’s Prayer.

Our special area classes are the following:

Monday -  Music
Tuesday -  Art
Wednesday – Library
Thursday – P.E.  (make sure to wear tennis shoes!)

I am enjoying getting to know your child.  They are so full of energy and eager to learn.  I’m looking forward to a great year!
