                K-News Week of May 25th-29

                                                      
Dear Parents,
  Hope you have a good week and a better weekend. This is what we will be working on this week.
Reading:The Night Worker by Kate Banks
1)Review all letters/sounds and vowel sounds with an emphasis on /u/.  Practice segmenting words/ separating words into individual sounds...cat =/c/ /a/ /t/. Practice blending sounds to make words

2)Amazing Words:engineer,construction, foreman, hard hat, street sweeper, beacons.. The children will use these words in sentences.
3)Comprehension:Children will identify  plot ...what happens in the story beginning, middle and end.
4)Grammar:Questions/ review telling sentences.    
Words to blend: and, up, fun, Sam, Bud, can, buns, gets, will, dump, us, jump, milk, fun, had, mom, get.
High Frequency Words:Review where, come, what, said, was, yellow. green, blue, red,  here, go, from, one, two, three, four, five,are, do, they, you, of, they, see, look, me, with, she, he, for we, my,like, have is to a I am the little cat dog mom dad

Math Activities and Investigations:Identifying numbers to 100, counting by 2s, 5s,10s, fractions, 1/2, whole, equal parts,practice addition and subtraction problems and stories.
                                                      
**Parent please have your child read to you every night. This can be about 15 min. a day. Your child needs this practice every day. This practice not only improves reading fluency and accuracy. It also improves their attitude towards reading and school.
   The children have the end of the crazies. The biggest problem is talking, talking, talking. The weekly report will not becomeing home from now on. If there has been something supper great  or a big problem I will send a note home.

   Monday: Memorial Day NO SCHOOL
   Tuesday: Computer Lab.
   Wednesday: Music.  Popcorn on sale $.50.
   Thursday: Field Day  Pease  wear tennis shoes. Pleas wear Read field day shirt
   Friday: Library
