Week of June 1st-5th
Mrs. Hamilton’s Newsletter
Do you believe that we have reached our last week of school? What a busy year this has been! I have grown to love each of the children in our class. What wonderful personalities they have and what a joy it has been to teach each one of them. I know that you are so very proud of your child’s progress. The children have worked very hard this year and I am so proud of each one of them. I have done my best to give your child the tools needed to enter first grade with confidence. Please keep your child reading this summer and don’t forget to periodically flash the following sight words…
where, come, what, said, was, yellow, blue, green, go, here, from, one, two, three, four, five, do, are, that, a, to, I, am, little, the, have, is, we, my, like, he, for, me, with, she, see, look, they, you, of.
This week our story will be The Night Worker by Kate Banks. We will be looking at the plot of our story (what happens in the beginning, middle, and end).
Amazing Words: engineer, construction, foreman, hard hat, street sweeper, and beacons. The children will use these words in complete sentences throughout the week.
We will be reviewing the letter “Uu”.
Words to blend: bats, bump bun, club, crib, cut, drop, drum, fix, hits, hunt, hut, job, mugs, must, rug, sun, and tent. Please have your child practice reading these words. There will be no assessment given on Friday, since it is the last day of school.
Math: We will be reviewing tens and ones, addition and subtraction, and finishing our testing for report cards. The children will play a game called Counters in a Cup.
Parents: remember that Field Day is June 2nd. Kindergarten will be outside in the afternoon at 12:00. Have a wonderful summer!
