Reading: This week we will read "Two Bad Ants."
There will be a test this Friday May 29th.
This test will include the vocabulary words,
and students will write a few sentences about
what happened in the beginning,middle,and end
of the story. There will not be any specific
fact or skill questions related to the story.
Example of vocabulary:
1. Each ant carried a ________ of sugar back
to the Queen. crystal
Please have your child read the story at
least twice a week,even if you spread it
over four days. This will help your child
with word recognition,comprehension,and
fluency. Even if you alternate reading pages
with him/her it will be a BIG help towards
improving reading skills.

substance that is naturally
formed on flat surfaces and
angles
2. disappeared- vanished completely;stopped
existing
3. discovery- something found out
4. goal- something desired
5. journey- a long trip from one place to
another

7. scoop- a tool like a small shovel used to
dig up things
8. unaware- not aware; unconscious
Spelling: This week we will work on unit 29. The
test will be on Monday June 1st.

Dictation Sentences:
1. Where is the refreshment stand?
2. Walk carefully through the wet paint.
Language: This week we will be working with commas and
quotation marks. A comma is used in a
compound sentence, to separate words in a
series, after a greeting and closing in a
friendly letter, between a city and state,
and between the day and year in a date.
Examples:
1. There is a crumb on the table,and the ant
crawled toward it.
2. We had sandwiches, cookies, and fruit at
the picnic.
3. Dear Grandma,
Your grandson,

Quotation marks are used to show what some-
one said and to show the title of a book,
story, or song.
Examples:
1. Jeremy said,"I want to sing a song."
2. "Everyone will enjoy your song," said
Ms. Foster.
3. Jeremy can play a song named "Paco's
Dog."
Math: This week we will review fractions and complete
decimals.There will be two graded papers. One on
fractions, and one on decimals. There will be
plenty of review and practice in class.
Science: This week we will be studying The Solar
System along with our activities that go along
with Star Lab.
Social Studies: This week we will discuss the changes
in transportation, communication,
technology, and medicine.
We have a snack everyday around 9:00 and students
are allowed to bring a water bottle to school if they
want. This helps to cut down students wanting to leave
the room to get a drink.
