Week of November 16,2009

Reading: This week we will read "The Gardener."
There will be a test on Friday
November 20th. This week you should find
a paper called "Family Times" in your
child's home folder. This should help
you as you and your child work together on
this week's story. You will find the
         vocabulary words,information about the
Language skill, and a place to take a
practice spelling test. You will receive a
paper like this for every story.
Please have your child read the story at
least twice a week, even if you spread it
over four days. This will help your child
         with word recognition,comprehension,and
fluency. Even if you alternate reading pages
with him/her it will be a BIG help towards
         improving reading skills.

what the subject does or what it is. Action

am, is, are, was, and were.

on addition and subtraction. We will work
on writing number sentences, using expanded

      and rounding numbers to estimate.

Science: This week we will review the chapter on
"Where Plants and Animals Live" and
complete a few activities that should help
with the chapter test on Thursday.

Social Studies: This week we will complete a couple
of activities we didn't get to last
week before the test. Then we will
begin working on the Southwest region's
