Monday (9/1) - Labor Day

Tuesday (9/2) - Mass vs. Weight, Density, and continue with metric system.  Metric Mania Worksheet given for homework, due Wednesday (9/3).

Wednesday (9/3) - Go over Metric Mania. Length Lab done in class. Finish for homework, if needed

Thursday (9/4) - Start Gummy Bear Density Lab.  Do Measuring Volume Displacement Lab and Object Density Lab.  Finish Object Density Lab Questions for Friday(9/5)

Friday (9/5) - Continue with Gummy Bear Lab and give out Metric Review and Properties of Matter Worksheet for Homework.  Due Monday (9/8).  Textbooks will be given out on Monday(9/8).  Scientific Method/Metric System Test on Wednesday(9/10).

Today we watched a video clip on the Outer Banks Hoide Toide Dialect and discussed.  Next we discussed the Section 2 (Coastal Plain) graphic organizer from Friday.   The graphic organizer was collected.  Mrs. Ward introduced Ch. 1, Section 3 (The Piedmont).  Students read pg. 18-25 and filled in a graphic organizer. Students then defined terms from pg. 18 and answered questions on pg. 25 #1-3.

Wednesday 9/3 - Counties Wordsearch - Column 5 Color Counties Orange
Today we finished the graphic organizer, vocab, and questions from yesterday and discussed the answers as a class.  Mrs. Ward assigned books, book on-line access codes, and textbook CD-Roms.  Next we read about the Devil's Tramping Ground and Mayberry (pg. 21 and 26-27) and discussed.

Thursday 9/4 - None
Today Mrs. Ward collected Counties Wordsearch and Map homework.  Student went to the computer lab and completed a chart worksheet entitled, "The Legacy of Lighthouses.  Then groups began working to make a poster of their assigned lighthouse. Poster must include : Name of the Lighthouse, Picture of the Lighthouse (printed or drawn), Year Built, Height, Strength of Beam, and Three Interesting Facts.

Friday 9/5 - None
Students complete Lighthouse activities from yesterday and turn in lighthouse poster.

Monday 9/8 - Ch. 1 Test Monday 9/15
Today we answered the following question from the Piedmont region section: If Kudzu grows 3 inches a day, how many days would it take to grow to the ceiling of our classroom (height of ceiling 10 ft).  Next we filled in the summarizing main points worksheet for the coastal plain and the piedmont.  Then Mrs. Ward introduced the Mountain Region.  Next we read pg. 28-36.  As a group students took main idea notes.  Next students defined vocab on pg. 28 and answered questions 1/3 on pg. 37.  If time permits we will begin to discuss.
