Students are given homework at least 3 times a week. Please check your child's agenda to be sure they are writing down their assignments daily. Some students may need some extra monitoring if their grades begin to fall. I will be happy to initial any agendas. I will also initial "none" when there is no assignment. This will work for most students if there is a reward/punishment system tied to getting the signatures.Behavior is directly tied to grades and performance--Well-behaved students have good grades.Parents may also want to sign the agenda nightly and look for homework completion. My Grading Scale was sent home along with a list of units to be covered this year--Classwork, Labs,Class Activities-50%, Tests, Projects,Quizzes-40%, and Homework-10%. It is very important that students are turning in their classwork and not hiding it in their notebook- papers cannot be graded that are not turned in with the class.Ten points will be deducted form work turned in late unless student is absent.
Students will have Warm-Ups questions some weeks, not every week. When they are given, students are to keep up with the sheet until all 5 are completed and then turn in for a classwork grade.Part of the grade is learning the responsibility of keeping up with the sheet and using their book to answer the question daily. When students are absent on a day a warm-up is given they simply write absent on that day and then turn in their paper. They will not need to worry about that particular day. Students can not make up warm-ups.
Homework and classwork will be posted in the class room daily. Projects, Quizzes, Tests, and Units of study will be posted on this site. Students need to get in the habit of writing down their assignments in their agenda daily. Please encourage them to do this and you will always know what is happening.
All Students should:
Be sure to keep check of their assignments and turn in all completed work on time.Be sure to use their agenda daily and continue to write down assignments daily.
Students will have one week notification of all tests and a review sheet will be given.
Be sure to check the white board in the classroom for any announcements of tests written in boxes on the board.Don't forget to check the assignment notebook for work you missed due to an absence and turn it in promptly.Failure to do this can result in zeros in the grade book.
Students are issued a textbook to keep at home to do homework. This book must be returned before track out so the teacher going into our room will have enough textbooks for their students. We will reissue a book each track-in time. They will also be issued a workbook to keep in their binder. Most homework will come from this workbook. A second, different workbook will be kept at school in the classroom for use with class work assignments. There will also be a class set of books in the classroom to use at school daily. Please help your child to cover these books that they keep at home to help keep them looking new.
Lost Science Textbooks cost $55.52.Lost workbooks cost is $7.00-each student is given the first one.
CLASSROOM DONATIONS:
Pencils, notebook paper, kleenex, endcap erasers, are always appreciated.Restock your own notebooks each quarter with notebook paper and pencils.Suggest a small pencil sharpener for use during class to eliminate too much classroom movement.
We can only use the brand name Purell for hand sanitizer at school, if you would like to donate this brand.
